Historia
David and Goliath is the dazzling and provocative new book from Malcolm Gladwell, best-selling author of The Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers and What the Dog Saw. Why do underdogs succeed so much more than we expect? How do the weak outsmart the strong? In David and Goliath Malcolm Gladwell takes us on a scintillating and surprising journey through the hidden dynamics that shape the balance of power between the small and the mighty.

An enjoyable listen
Revisado: 06-21-15
Malcolm Gladwell takes an interesting premise and turns into a really eye-opening book through his examples and case studies. He makes you put a different lens on things and I always end up getting a good take-home from his books.

Cecelia Ahern does it again
Revisado: 06-21-15
I've loved all of Cecelia Ahern's books for their quirky, feel-good story lines and her latest offering does not disappoint. Listening to the book as I drove to and from work each day, my 50 minute commute disappeared in an instant as I was drawn into the very satisfying story and great narration.

Historia
Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II, which begins with The Winds of War and continues here in War and Remembrance, stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

Totally absorbing
Revisado: 01-27-13
I listened to Winds of War followed immediately by this War and Remembrance. This meant over 100 hours of story. The time passed so quickly and I would often find myself sitting in the car at the end of my driving listening to the story rather than getting out of the car.
Fantastic story telling, brilliant narrator and a history lesson unlike any I had experienced before. All the characters - both likeable or not - were real and vivid. Story telling at its very best. I highly recommend it.

Historia
Richard, Carmel and Liesl are an unlikely trio with a complex shared past. They met while working in Rwanda during the genocide. Now the three are back together, united both by a photograph and attempts on their lives. After receiving a summons from the International Criminal Tribunal of Rwanda, someone has tried to kill both Carmel and Richard. Could this be connected to the photograph they saw in Rwanda, or to the summons?

No where as good as his earlier books
Revisado: 12-25-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I loved Tony Park's early books ( I did a review of one before). However, his last two books have become some what formulaic in their storyline and characters. I guessed what was going to happen at the end because of knowledge of his previous style. This is really disappointing as I had thought he was going to be the modern day Wilbur Smith. I think he needs to go back to delivering a well-thought our idea rather than trying to churn out a book every year.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Rather predictable.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator resorts to really stereotypical accents when he is doing a different accent. The Australian female is embarrassingly Aussie (I live here, so know how bad it is) and his South African Afrikaaner accent again is extreme. Also, being married to someone who grew up in Africa and with family still living there, I was really disappointed by the inaccurate pronunciation of many words and places (Oke, Nelspruit).
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Maybe
Any additional comments?
The story was okay, but I hope he can get back to his best again.

Hard to get into as an audiobook
Revisado: 05-13-12
I listen to audiobooks as I'm driving to and from work. I usually find them easy to get into (whether they are fiction or non-fiction) and quite absorbing. I tried several times to listen to this book, but constantly found myself drifting off and thinking about other things. Maybe the paper version would have be different, but this is the first book I've bought from Audible that I have never finished.

Hundreds of books have been written about the financial crisis that engulfed the world after Lehman Brothers went bankrupt. But what if the bigger financial crisis is ahead of us, not behind us?As John Mauldin and Jonathan Tepper deftly illustrate in this controversial audio book, the crisis was more than a half-century in the making. The Great Financial Crisis, however, was merely Act I.

Scary but riveting
Revisado: 03-15-12
This book was written at the end of 2010; however, it is as relevant now as it was back then. Their summary of what is happening/could happen in Greece is spot on. It makes you re-evaluate what can happen over the next few years. Being forewarned is a powerful advantage. One of those books that you need to listen to twice to get ever point and detail.

History, humanity, cruelty and hope
Revisado: 12-02-11
Would you consider the audio edition of The Nazi Officer's Wife to be better than the print version?
I listened to this book mesmerized by Edith's story and having to tell myself that this wasn't fiction. Her strength of character through unbelievable hardships shines through. life under Nazi Germany came alive in this book. The cruelty of mankind towards people who are different was evident throughout. A must listen to book. Narrator was excellent. Totally believable, inspirational and not over-dramatic. This story will stay with me.
What did you like best about this story?
The fact it was a true story
Have you listened to any of Barbara Rosenblat???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes

Another great adventure from Tony Park
Revisado: 12-03-10
If you have never heard of Tony Park, you probably soon will. His novels are the 21st century answer to Wilbur Smith - full of larger than life, but relatable, heroes - and the narrators do a good job too. I just wish all of his other books were available as an audiobook. Very enjoyable escapism.
