Historia
The night has teeth.... A boy on his way home from a little league game, viciously attacked, some of his flesh devoured.... A band of street people found dead in a subway tunnel, their skin riddle with sharp, bloody gashes.... A young woman attacked and killed inside an apartment elevator.... Something is loose on the streets of Manhattan, nesting in the subways, living in the building walls. Creatures with a vicious and insatiable taste for human flesh. And as darkness falls again, who can stop the carnage?

Just not going anywhere by Chapter 17
Revisado: 10-30-20
I expected a little mystery, action and suspense. The story has been a dull straight line up into Chapter 17, so far. We know what is doing the killing right away, but must go through the procedural process of the people on the ground. Procedure, not action. Meanwhile, the narrator has whistling dentures or something. It becomes pronounced at times. His voice is far too old for the characters. The young female lead sounds like an old toothless woman who tongues her words. Very disappointed. Five and a half more hours of plodding narrative? I don't care anymore. Let the Vesper win, Please, stop having these narrators who are too old for the characters.

Historia
Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

Narrator pops a lung overdramatizing every sentence
Revisado: 06-03-20
After the introduction, the narrator builds her drama until she is delivering every sentence as if it is the climactic breaking point. An hour and a half in, I'd had enough because she was actually screaming a drunken uncle's rant. I wanted to listen to a tale, not a straining voice ratcheting up as much drama as possible. It was such a relief to silence this hyperbolic performance. I'll never know "the secret" now, but I'll be relaxed.

Trudged along. Mispronunciations galore.
Revisado: 04-14-18
Would you try another book from Greig Beck and/or Sean Mangan?
Not after this one. (That's never fair to an author, but this wasn't a good start.)
What was most disappointing about Greig Beck’s story?
I kept thinking that the dull dialog and description would eventually get to some action. My mind has never wandered as frequently as it did with this audiobook.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator's mangled pronunciations ended up being the only entertaining part of the experience.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
At this point, I don't care anymore. If I jumped to the last hour there would probably be some action, but I don't care anymore.

Any additional comments?
The books in this series are nice for a "cozy" read. They don't attempt to challenge you or keep you on the edge of your seat. They are comfortable just like Hannah's Cookies.
The narrator's voice sounds older than Hannah's mother would be. Nothing wrong with that but it just didn't fit for Hannah. Having read all the books up to this one, I envision Hannah as fresher, spunkier and lighter. She has a dry wit but that doesn't mean she needs to sound dulled and depressed. With a different voice I would try this series again.

The story grew on me to the point of being sad it ended when it did. The story is full of tension and humor in just the right doses. If you like stories of perseverance rewarded, you will enjoy it.

Historia
Whilst organising a mock murder hunt for the village fete hosted by Sir George and Lady Stubbs, a feeling of dread settles on the famous crime novelist Adriane Oliver. Call it instinct, but it's a feeling she just can't explain...or get away from. In desperation she summons her old friend, Hercule Poirot - and her instincts are soon proved correct when the "pretend" murder victim is discovered playing the scene for real, a rope wrapped tightly around her neck.

I wouldn't rate this as one of my favorite Poirot adventures but David Suchet brought the characters to life with such flair that I chuckled repeatedly over the variety of personalities he created with Christi's talent. It was a jolly listen.

After four hours of this depressing tale I couldn't imagine a reason to go on. Cruelty, brutality and abuse fill the first four hours. If you are tender-hearted, I can not recommend it.

What do you do when Her Royal Highness decides to bestow her special matchmaking skills on you only to find that she has selected a most unappealing man with big fish lips? How do you protect an innocent loved one when you are so accident-prone that your friends can't tell the difference between clumsiness and attempted murder? How do you cope with your sudden independence, a lone female, without an allowance, without the slightest domestic skills or business experience? Georgie would appear to be a ready victim. Although she stumbles down her path, her common sense, courage, honor and sense of humor serve her very well. She absolutely refuses to cower or surrender. Bravo!

Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. Just Couldn't Enjoy it No Matter How Hard I Tried
Revisado: 01-29-13
Any additional comments?
During my first attempt to listed to this book I thought maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this supposedly funny book. I tried again two days later and again two days after that. It felt like the author was trying to be "oh so witty" in every sentence (way too much!!!) at the expense of any plot whatsoever. I wanted to like this book to start a new series. Not only did I not laugh at a single attempt of wit but it actually became annoying after a while. Rarely am I picky enough to give up on a book. It might have worked better reading it to myself although I thought the narrator was just fine. The story itself was weak, not witty.
I gave it three sincere tries but finally had to put a stake in it.
