Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Great Read
Revisado: 10-01-23
First, Tom Hanks is an excellent narrator. The story is just a simple story about life, forgiveness and how we all see things from our own perspective. It was a little sad, but a very enjoyable read.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

What a wonderful story
Revisado: 07-07-23
I really enjoyed this story. It was cute, entertaining and although the story was emotional, it wasn't too heavy. The narration was complete perfection.

Too much of the previous books
Revisado: 05-05-20
I really liked the first two books in the series and this one isn't bad, but it rehashes a lot of the first two books. I suppose that is for those that start with this one without reading the first two. But for those of us that did, half of this story is just a replay. I am hesitant on reading the fourth book because I don't want to hear the first three stories again.

Historia
All Thomas Weaver wanted was death. What he got was time travel. Thomas Weaver, haunted by a teenage tragedy, lived a wasted life. He closed his eyes for what he believed was the last time in 2016, but opened them again in his teenage bedroom and body in 1976. Now a middle-aged man in his teenage body, he sets out to fix everything he did wrong in his first life. A budding serial killer in home room, a possible new romance, and high school algebra complicate his plans. What would you do, if you could do it all again?

Addictive
Revisado: 05-03-20
Time travel books aren't my usual go to books, but I thought I would try something different and I'm glad I did. It's not something that I would insist everyone read, but I liked it and made me think about "the afterlife" in a different way. It hooked me in and even though I told myself I would probably only read the first book in the series, I am now on the third book in the series.

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Decent story with a twist, but too descriptive
Revisado: 05-03-20
The premise of the story was good and the reader was very good. I liked her distinct voices for each character. One of the main problems I had with the book is that it goes overboard with description. It is important to describe a scene in detail so that the reader feels like they are inside of the story, but describing every nook and cranny with every known simile is tedious.

Adventurous, funny and just a little sad. The perfect story for animal lovers. The narrator did a wonderful job projecting the proper Catitude for Nanna. Very enjoyable.

I Love Lois Lowry
Revisado: 11-18-18
The Giver is definitely one of my favorite books. The story is set in a unique, kind of socialistic dystopian society where feelings are suppressed and the good of the community is emphasized. I originally read it in a college literature class and enjoyed it again on audible. It is marketed as a young adult book, which is typically ages 12-18, but I think it is more for older teens (16+) and adults. I think the message is a little too deep for the younger ages. The actual series is a quartet of 4 books. All of them are amazing and very thought provoking. I bought the quartet and listened to them in order. It would be a great series for a book club. There are many ideas to discuss.
