Historia
Part lawman, part tracker, and part magician, the Wardens are monster-hunters - tasked with protecting the people from the various, nightmarish creatures that have invaded the world of men. For most of his life, 16-year-old Errol Magnus categorically rejected the idea of being a Warden. Growing up right next to the Badlands, he encountered enough bloodthirsty monsters in the ordinary course of events; he’d never seen much sense in assuming a post that required you to actively seek them out.

So much adventure in one book!
Revisado: 11-09-19
I am a huge fan of Errol and his Warden adventures! It's been interesting to "watch" him grow over these three books. Even though not a huge amount of time has passed, you can honestly recognize some maturity that the experience of acting as Warden has given him. He definitely seems a little less impetuous and quick to judge as he was in books one and two.
There is so much going on in this book! There are a ton of adventures and suspenseful situations throughout. We get introduced to some new, interesting characters and there are some really fascinating moral dilemmas we get to experience through Errol's eyes. I truly hope there are more stories set in this universe, especially with how this one ended!

Historia
Errol longs for just a single day to pass that doesn't require him to put his life in danger. His desire for a respite, however, is complicated by two things: the arrival of a mysterious troupe of performers and the appearance of a bloodthirsty creature that kills its victims in a horribly gruesome fashion. Now Errol must determine what connection - if any - exists between the troupe and the killings, as well as find a way to stop the monster before the body count goes any higher.

More Thrilling Adventures
Revisado: 09-25-19
Oh, wow! Errol made me so angry at the beginning of this book that I didn't know if I could continue listening. Once I reminded myself that he lives in a world very different from my own I was able to continue enjoying his adventures. There was so much going on in this second installment of the Warden series. I was hooked from the first minute. Errol can be a little frustrating with his impulsive conclusions, but I think that is a great reminder of his age & lack of experience. I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself once again in his life & i can't wait to listen to the next book!

Historia
Part lawman, part tracker and part magician, the Wardens are monster-hunters - tasked with protecting the people from the various, nightmarish creatures that have invaded the world of men. However, despite being descended from a long line of Wardens, 16-year-old Errol Magnus believes it to be the absolute worst job on the planet: How could a single occupation simultaneously be the most boring, abominably stupid, and extraordinarily dangerous profession imaginable?

What a great adventure!
Revisado: 08-11-19
This was a really well told adventure story! Some of the elements of the setting and the creatures reminded me of the book The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub, but this was definitely not as bleak or depressing. Errol is a great character and Kevin Hardman captured the essence of a frustrated teenager tasked with duty beyond his years perfectly. I loved the length of this and getting exposition into it so that we know what is going on, as well as being able to tell a story without the whole thing being *only* explanation, in that amount of time took a lot of storytelling skill. I can't wait to find out more about what happened to Tom, to learn more about this setting and to get to know more about Errol as he matures.
