The most accurately vile antagonist I've read in years. If this wasn't the third book in this series so I had some expectation as to how it was likely to end I might not have been able to continue after his first appearance.

Vlad Taltos is in love. With a former assassin who may just be better than he is at the Game. Women like this don’t come along every day and no way is he passing up a sure bet. So a wedding is being planned. Along with a shady deal gone wrong and a dead man who owes Vlad money. Setting up the first and trying to deal with the second is bad enough. And then bigger powers decide that Vlad is the perfect patsy to shake the power structure of the kingdom. More's the pity that his soul is sent walkabout to do it.

As good as any of his other Dresden shorts. As to the narrator; well, he's no Gaiman; but then, who is? Always enjoyable to hear an author's take on his creations. Grab this one when you see it on sale.

Rather more of the hard core sex than I expect from this author based on having read first The First Law trilogy. I personally didn't see as it served the plot in any way; struck me more as a published writing exercise, I'm sure that I'm in the minority in finding it detracting from the tale.
Otherwise it has the strong; morally complex characters you expect in this world and the story is a good change of pace; being a smaller scale, more personal tale of revenge.
