Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Thoroughly Enjoyed This Book
Revisado: 08-22-18
Trevor Noah did an amazing job writing and reading his autobiography. Learning about life in South Africa, listening to what he and his mother lived through was riveting and eye-opening. His mother is a forward-thinking and daring woman who did an excellent job raising a knowledgeable and politically-aware son. I am now an official Trevor Noah fan!

Overall: Enjoyed
Revisado: 06-18-18
The writing was excellent in terms of description, rhythm, and detail. The characters were very interesting along with their backstory. Clearly the author is very knowledgeable about spy craft. The narration was first class. The only two drawbacks to this book was that it got a bit tedious about 3/4 of the way through and the ending was anti-climactic.

Historia
The year is AD 29, and Jerusalem chafes under the Roman Empire’s continued presence and oppressive rule. In spite of that unpleasant fact, life goes on—but not for everyone. People die, some because it is their time, others by misadventure. One death in particular brings the city’s daily routine to a halt. A badly burned body is found behind the veil of the holy of holies—the temple’s inner sanctum and the most sacred space on earth for the Jews.

Thoroughly enjoyed!
Revisado: 06-04-15
I enjoyed the historical back-drop of this mystery. Bringing to life historical figures like Pontius Piolet and Caiaphas along with temple rituals gave the story a "realistic" feel. I also enjoyed the complexity of the story. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
Why exactly Charley Bordelon's late father left her eight hundred sprawling acres of sugarcane land in rural Louisiana is as mysterious as it was generous. Recognizing this as a chance to start over, Charley and her 11-year-old daughter, Micah, say good-bye to Los Angeles. They arrive just in time for growing season but no amount of planning can prepare Charley for a Louisiana that's mired in the past: as her judgmental but big-hearted grandmother tells her, cane farming is always going to be a white man's business.

Stick with it…
Revisado: 05-14-15
Overall, I enjoyed the book. I did, however, found the author's style overly descriptive. The continual use of adjectives slowed the story and, at times, made it feel tedious. It took me a while to settle into it because I almost stopped listening, however I am glad that I finished the story.

Historia
A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old Devil to his nephew, Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

Amazing
Revisado: 03-31-15
I am about to re-listen to this book again. This book is written from the point of view of Screwtape, a master demonic being who is advising his nephew how to go about tempting and causing the downfall of the human being to whom he is assigned. Rarely are humans totally wicked-instead we are marginal, without conviction, nonthinking, and ruled by habits. It is in those areas that Screwtape advises his nephew to exploit; And it is in those areas, that we all are challenged. This is an excellent, excellent book. I have never read anything by CS Lewis before. Now I want to explore all of his works-after I listen to this one again.
The narrator has the perfect voice for this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
