Great story. Ok voice acting.
Revisado: 10-30-24
Stephen Fry has a great voice. His performance isn’t as good as Jim Dale’s version but a solid effort.

Historia
Every day, we find ourselves in gatherings, Priya Parker says in The Art of Gathering. If we can understand what makes these gatherings effective and memorable, then we can reframe and redirect them to benefit everyone, host and guest alike. Parker defines a gathering as three or more people who come together for a specific purpose. When we understand why we gather, she says - to acknowledge, to learn, to challenge, to change - we learn how to organize gatherings that are relevant and memorable.

Concise and purposeful
Revisado: 04-10-24
Like is advocated for in the book, this book had purposeful components and is unlike other books about creating meaning. It moves from narrative to practical advice in a way that is flexible enough to allow for most gatherings and structured enough to support benefit for most people.

Thrawn origin
Revisado: 03-18-23
If you want the beginning of Thrawn in the Star Wars galaxy, this is a great story. My only knock is it tells the story of one character that I’m not sure pays off at the end of the story. Maybe she is more involved in Star Wars or other stories and I’m not aware of her? Otherwise the story is great, the performance is great and so overall it’s a recommend from me. I read some people didn’t like the background music but it didn’t overpower the performance for me and was not noticeable for most of the story. Could be an issue with speakers or headphones for some people but not for me.

Mediocre story of one writers perspective
Revisado: 09-22-22
It was alright. The author is neither and Aggie nor a Longhorn but has friends who are and has attending some things. This skims the surface of the rivalry from a very surface level and mostly tells the story of him attending games in 2001. If you’re bored and wanting to hear about his perspective and have a spare credit, it’s not terrible.

Historia
Most children go through a dinosaur phase. Learning all the tongue-twisting names, picking favourites based on ferocity, armour, or sheer size. For many kids this love of ‘terrible lizards’ fizzles out at some point between starting and leaving primary school. All those fancy names slowly forgotten, no longer any need for a favourite. For all those child dino fanatics who didn’t grow up to become paleontologists, dinosaurs seem like something out of mythology. They are dragons, pictures in books, abstract, other, extinct.

General book for a general audience
Revisado: 09-08-22
For a book stylized as a dinosaur book for grown ups, it didn’t go into much detail about things I’d expect. It was a general book about the history of dinosaurs but not much in way of specifics of “favorite dinosaurs” that it’s starts off discussing or interesting features of dinosaurs that should be among the favorites. Nice book but not a must read.

Decent book, poorly read
Revisado: 10-30-18
The book is about Friends but more about their place in various aspects in cultural history. The author reads the first and last chapter and it’s natural and engaging. When the performer reads the rest of the book it’s robotic and sounds more like someone reading through an article for the first time in front of an audience.
If you’re looking celebrity gossip or insider info this is not the book. If you’re looking for an examination of Friends impact through different lenses of cultural history then this is a decent start. The author is a fan of the series and that bias comes through in the writing but does tough on objectivity at times.

Southern food is integral to the American culinary tradition, yet the question of who "owns" it is one of the most provocative touchpoints in our ongoing struggles over race. In this unique memoir, culinary historian Michael W. Twitty takes listeners to the white-hot center of this fight, tracing the roots of his own family and the charged politics surrounding the origins of soul food, barbecue, and all Southern cuisine.

Informative
Revisado: 10-16-18
I encourage anyone interested in this book to read the last chapter first. This is not a history of southern food or the account of slavery on southern cooking but a combination of these and a personal narrative of the authors research into his history and the impact of these subjects. It’s worth a lesson or read but Kay be different than you expect on first reading the title and blurb.
