Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Love the story.....
Revisado: 08-01-23
I LOVE Sutton.and Charlotte and thoroughly enjoyed the glimpses into their future. The end felt like saying goodbye to much-loved friends.
The only thing I hated was the narrator's performance. Her character voices are, at times very grating and very unattractive.

A little predictable
Revisado: 04-06-23
Gerri Hill is one of my favorite authors, but I was able to predict the direction of this book within the first two chapters. Despite that, it was generally enjoyable. I found the premise believable and liked the MCs. The narration was somewhat uneven. She seemed to maintain distinct voices between the MCs at the beginning, but toward the end, it was difficult at times to distinguish who was speaking.

Historia
Anastasia Villiers has hit rock bottom. And that rock is named Espoir Island. Abandoned by her disgraced investment banker husband who liquidated all of their assets and fled the country, Anastasia is left with nothing - except for Fishscale House, a broken-down Queen Anne in the Michigan hometown she swore she’d left for good. If Ana quickly renovates and flips the dilapidated building, she can get back to Manhattan and salvage her life. The problem? The only person on the island with historical renovation cred is Ned Fitzroy - Ana’s first love.

This could’ve made a great story if it was fleshed out more. I wanted more about her time on the island, resolving things with her husband and children and a nice epilogue.

Historia
For Astrid Parker, failure is unacceptable. Ever since she broke up with her fiancé a year ago, she’s been focused on her career—her friends might say she’s obsessed, but she knows she’s just driven. When Pru Everwood asks her to be the designer for the Everwood Inn’s renovation, which will be featured on a popular HGTV show, Innside America, Astrid is thrilled. Not only will the project distract her from her failed engagement and help her struggling business, but her perpetually displeased mother might finally give her a nod of approval.

Revised review
Revisado: 01-13-23
I LOVED Delilah Green Doesn’t Care so i bought this one.
Initially, I didn't think I could finish it, but I couldn't return it and I hate to waste money.
My initial review was 3 stars. I'm now upping it to 4.
Pros:
1: Some laugh-out-loud moments.
2: Astrid finally gets some issues resolved.
3: Always nice to see old characters.
Cons:
1: I initially HATED Jordan. I came to understand her but still don't like her.
2: The author basically humiliated one character, while a sneaky/underhanded one got everything they wanted.
I do hope the author writes another book in this series.

Historia
Delilah Green swore she would never go back to Bright Falls—nothing is there for her but memories of a lonely childhood where she was little more than a burden to her cold and distant stepfamily. Her life is in New York, with her photography career finally gaining steam and her bed never empty. Sure, it’s a different woman every night, but that’s just fine with her.

Fun
Revisado: 01-12-23
I enjoyed this story. I know some reviewers indicated that Delilah irritated them due to her childish behavior. However, having grown up in a similar dynamic, childhood hurts are difficult to get over. Moreover I couldn't understand why Astrid - the one who wasn't the orphan, was constantly coddled by Claire and Iris, while Delilah - the sad orphan was mocked. lastly I couldn't understand why Isabelle didn't sell that house (the one Deli man's father designed) and give Delilah the proceeds. Isabelle and Astrid were already wealthy from het first marriage. Just some observations.

Historia
The woman’s body was found in the early morning, on a bench in a New York City playground. She was clean, her hair neatly arranged, her makeup carefully applied. But other things were very wrong—like the tattoo and piercings, clearly new. The clothes, decades out of date. The fatal wound hidden beneath a ribbon around her neck. And the note: Bad Mommy, written in crayon as if by a child.

I admit that it took me two tries to listen to this one. I think I initially dismissed it because I detest “mommy issues”. I’m not sure what caused me to give it another try but I’m glad I did.

Enjoyable!!!
Revisado: 11-02-22
This was a story I was determined to finish! I confess that I first tried to read it but the size of the book (over 800 pages!) was daunting. I then got the audible version but all the strange names and places were too difficult to keep straight. Finally, I decided to read AND listen at the same time.
The characters were compelling and the story fantastic. However, it dragged at various points and I felt sure the tale could’ve been told in about half the time.
About halfway through I was finally gripped and stayed up ver late for several nights to read/listen.
The narrator was fine for the most part. She did differentiate voices fairly well. At times, I wasn’t sure if pronunciations were cultural (i.e British vs American pronunciations ) or just mispronounced. Overall, I enjoyed listening to her - I confess I find accents generally increase my interest.
I suggest to anyone who’s interested in this book but overwhelmed by its size to do as I did - read and listen concurrently.

Meh?!
Revisado: 09-16-22
I usually love Jae but this one didn't grab me. Some of the dialogue was overly flirty -almost cringe-worthy. The narrator made it worse. I don't know how to explain it except to say she read with an exuberance that made the book sound silly. There were a few things I loved but not enough to change my rating. I think I'll try reading the rest of the books in the series rather than listening to them. Hopefully that improves the experience.

Historia
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

My favorite Jane Austen!
Revisado: 07-16-22
Full of regrets, longings, and second chances. This is Austen revealing both the best and worst elements of "adulting". Almost all of us have a " the-one-that-got-away" story. Watching the journey back to each other can be agonizing but Austen does it with class. Many may see Anne Elliott as weak as she watches Frederick woo younger , more impressionable lasses. But Anne's super power is her ability to watch and wait until Frederick comes to his senses. The ending is swoon worthy. Also the narrator is wonderful!
