Jumped the shark

It was a decent story until the plot twist w Alis’s dad and his business. And several major life-threatening events happening that just sort of get brushed aside and on w life we go. Also, the “but we’re stepbrothers” trope was kind of forced considering the actual circumstances. The drama of their teenage lives and families was kind of enough without the add-on towards the end. Performance of both narrators was good, though.

Emotional, tender, sexy, and fun

Both narrators are in my top 5, especially in an MM Romance, so I was going to enjoy listening no matter what. But the story was so, so wonderful. I didn’t want to take a break. I made myself stop bc I could tell the main conflict was coming and I wasn’t emotionally ready for it. I really loved these two characters together. Lots of small affectionate moments plus lots of heat. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, so I’ll have to look up her other titles.

Not likely to finish - voice is grating

I’m listening to the version w both male and female narrators. I will listen to anything Christian Fox narrates. But the female narrator is so whiny and her pacing is really off. It doesn’t fit the character. I’ve heard good things about this series but I don’t think I can finish listening to this one.

Wished they didn’t wind up back together.

I can’t remember another modern romance I’ve read where I didn’t want the main characters to get back together. He was just not worth it. Yes, he’s been through a lot. But also, he was awful to her when they broke up for the last time. What an idiot. He needed therapy. Which there was plenty of time for w the way this book dragged out.
