Very James Patterony!

I stopped Listening to or reading James Patterson books years ago. They all had the same tone and he seemed to elongate a story so a second book could be published. As I am a horsewoman, I thought I’d give it a go. I’m disappointed. The characters were superficial; especially the mom. I appreciated the aspect of the horse competitions, but the authors didn’t capture the tenacity and drive needed to compete at this level. It’s an “ok” read.

The plot had a great twist. Definitely different than the rest and very promising. However the author’s editor must have told her to wrap it up fast. The ending was anti-climatic. The drama and suspense built within the first 2/3 of the book weren’t carried through to the end. Disappointed that the same care was not provided to the ending.

Very disappointed with this book. The lead female character was portrayed as unintelligent and predictable. Very frustrating and annoying. No depth in character and written like the author had to lead readers to a conclusion that was more than obvious. .

This book was hard to follow. Not enough explanation nor character development. Found narrator to be very monotonous. I would not recommend this book.

I was a little skeptical of this book when it first started. As the author was building background, the book was slow. However, it was all worth it when Lilly’s story was told. I actually spoke to the book on more than one occasion with cries of astonishment. I was engaged and sad when it ended because I could have listened to more!
