Mary Monroe is the queen of coyness and storytelling. Her characters live out to the intrusive thoughts in many peoples heads. This one will be great to discuss with the group!

could not roll my eyes hard enough!

The writing, the sex scenes were all eyeroll worthy. it made the characters seem obsessive to the point of mental illness, not romantic/hot. I felt like the author was just trying to fill the page rather than really tell a story. I got secondhand embarrassment and disgust reading some of the scenes and I am NOT a prude. There was an opportunity to really have a deep discussion about interracial relationship and this author missed the mark. Disappointing compared to her previous work.

The story was thought-provoking and entertaining

I liked this book and would recommend the author. I am not a fan of the narrators tone. She was not animated enough for me. I would not seek her out to tell me a story. It was not bothersome enough for me to stop listening. My only writing criticism were the constant “before” and “after”. I don’t think it was necessary and although it did get me to ask before what and after what it became annoying after a while. all that being said, I would still recommend this book.

This was not my favorite Jodi book. I 100% could have done without the music and found myself forwarding my way through those parts. I’m not sure why this was added.

The Narrator needs to take a break

The chewing, drinking and smacking was distracting. Very disappointing. Please. Just take a break and come back! The story was good as always.

Book 6 was disappointing

This one was disappointing. There were too many sex scenes and eye rolling sappiness. I came across the Butterfly series before the Ethic series so this was read as a “prequel. I’m usually into the books but book 6 didn’t do it for me.

E. LYNN ALWAYS DELIVERED

I accidentally came across this novel and was so excited for “new” E. Lynn. I have read everything he released and it was a pleasure witnessing him grow in his craft. His books opened up an entirely new world for me, even when I was too young to be reading them. This one did NOT disappoint. If it’s your first time reading his novels you’re in the best position. Go find the rest of his work and enjoy!

This is a must listen.

I cried and almost stopped listening. There is a peace in knowing others can relate-especially when “others” are Miss Viola Davis- a trailblazer. I appreciate this story. It’s rooted in black trauma but illuminates the path to black triumph. Thank You.
