Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Months earlier, Martha documented the details of an alleged rape committed by two of the town’s most respected gentlemen—one of whom has now been found dead in the ice.

The authors ability to lock one into the story immediately was unusual and so rewarding
Revisado: 04-23-24
This book was a 10! I lived the story and it held my interest for the entire time I listened. The setting and era as well as subject matter was so vividly described but not too wordy.
I will read more of her works!

I have some knowledge and have visited Poland and the camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau personally . These historical books give such depth into the struggles of our ancestors and why freedom is so important to each person! This writer achieved what many cannot in the details and depth of characters. I strongly urge you to read this book if WWII has any interest for you!

The best of John Grisham
Revisado: 05-21-21
As he returns to his roots with this book, John Grisham has brought the reader right into the court room . Great book with surprises and good moral basis! I enjoyed as much as A Time to Kill! 👏
