Enjoyed the story, hated the narrator

It’s been a while since I read one of the Stephanie Plum novels, so I thought I would check them out again. I’ve always enjoyed them. They are nice light entertainment and I always enjoy them. However, the narrator spoiled the whole thing for me. She sounded old and her voice was too deep. She couldn’t do the other characters either. Joseph Marelli sounded like someone I wanted to run away from. And Lula, the proud audacious ex-ho came out sounding almost like Stephanie. It was not enjoyable at all.
The story itself was enjoyable and I wish I could have enjoyed the book.

I should have read the reviews first.

I’m not Asian, I don’t speak Chinese, couldn’t tell the difference between Chinese accents if my life depended on it and I absolutely despised the accents from this narrator.
Friends have told me the book and the movie were enjoyable, but because of the narrator I could not enjoy this book.
I should know better and check the reviews first next time.

What disappointed you about What Happened to Bernie Sanders?
I voted for Bernie Sanders and our whole election system was cheated by Hillary Clinton rigging the election, so I really looked forward to this book.
First, Beck,s wife would have been a better narrator. I did like the introductory remarks. Beyond that, this was a publicly available court transcript without even a conclusion. It was a lazy book, and I felt cheated again. I expected better of Jared Beck.
