Historia
The Sword of the Lictor is the third volume in Wolfe's remarkable epic, chronicling the odyssey of the wandering pilgrim called Severian, driven by a powerful and unfathomable destiny, as he carries out a dark mission far from his home.
Gene Wolfe's "The Book of the New Sun" is one of speculative fiction's most-honored series. In a 1998 poll, Locus Magazine rated the series behind only "The Lord of the Rings" and The Hobbit as the greatest fantasy work of all time.

Great performance
Revisado: 11-07-19
Jonathan Davis is one of the best audio book performers I’ve heard. This series is dark, fantastical, and deep.

Historia
Ocyrhoe, a young, cunning fugitive from Rome, safeguards a chalice of subtle but great power. Finding herself in France, she allies with the persecuted, pacifist Cathar sect in their legendary mountaintop stronghold, Montségur. There she resists agents of the Roman Church and its Inquisition, fights off escalating, bloody besiegement by troops of the King of France, and shields the mysterious cup from the designs of many. Percival, the heroic Shield-Brethren knight from The Mongoliad, consumed by his mystical visions of the Holy Grail, is also drawn to Montségur - where the chalice holds the key to his destiny.

Unlistenable narrator!
Revisado: 10-10-19
I got a refund after 4 min. Books 1-4 had an incredible voice actor but this narrator sounds like Alexa with a lisp. Such a shame I’ll never finish this awesome series.

Not funny. Dumb Sci-fi.
Revisado: 08-11-19
I listened for the first few hours and found this book to be unlistenable. It’s the opposite of smart and clever. The jokes are all eye rollers. The sci-fi shows a complete lack of technical understanding and research. Maybe kids would like it but I do not recommend this book.

Historia
Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

Classic book, poor recording.
Revisado: 03-09-19
The voice talent was excellent but the recording is tinny like a low res mp3, there are some jarring moments where pickups were dropped in. A classic novel but not Stephenson’s best.
