This story shows the cost of seeking freedom and the trust required to survive. It also gave a glimpse of how the life decisions and relationships changed when a slave decided to run and the consequences of those actions on everyone around them. This book portrayed slavery as it was: horrific for all who were enslaved and the challenges for those who were born light enough to pass.

OMG!!! The secrets we keep to uphold the image the world expects of us. Mel B, aka Scary Spice, tells all. In this book, she opens up about her loves and her failures. But she is especially open and honest about the pain she experienced due to an extremely emotionally and physically abusive marriage. She talks about how and why she stayed and how she is recovering. As a therapist, I appreciate her honesty. Many times the family and friends of the abused can see it happening and don't know what to say to help the person and often feel betrayed when the abused returns to the abuser. Melanie opens many eyes to her why. NO ONE, woman or man should suffer this kind of abuse and it should be a crime to gain financially from that abuse. I am glad she is healing and that she is away from this individual, though she is still fighting him in court.

This was a great tale about how one of the most famous Johnny Cash songs came to become a hit while highlighting the challenges of the song's writer and his inability to escape the demons of a brutal prison system. I found this story to be a fascinating listen.

I totally enjoyed listening to this book. It felt as if I was in the room with Trevor, listening to stories from his past. It helped me to understand somewhat of where he gets his comedic genius. I am amazed that he is still so optimistic about life and the world. I love his perseverance and his ability to make the best of each and every situation. This book has become one of my "Recommended Listen" books. I love hearing his story in his voice as it helped to delineate the language differences. It also makes me want to know more about the rest of the journey. Language allows us to learn about each other as easily as it allows us to be separated. I know I will listen to it again.

This story line initially felt a tad contrived. I felt I knew what was going on and then I was like Wait, What??? It shows how easy we get sucked in by the image and what can happen when you allow yourself to be molded into something you are not because of manipulation and deceit and the depths of what one must do to get out of a bad situation. Good story and definitely had its share of twists.

There is always a trade-off when we add technology to the solution. Rarely is it all good. This book discusses the trade-off of using sonar technology for naval defense and the damage it causes whales. It discusses the cost to the eco-system when we focus solely on the technical solution. It is a good listen, can get somewhat dry in parts, but then you will be going back for the details. "Audible 20 Review Sweepstakes entry"

I read this because it was a book club read. I am glad I did. It is a very open and honest view of the challenge of dealing with early onset Alzheimers. Dan Gatsby provides a very open and heartbreaking story of the journey of identifying B. Smith's alzheimers diagnosis and the challenge of being the caregiver for someone you love. The narration by B. Smith gives you the perspective from the person who has the disease. Must read for anyone affected by this disease.

This was a good story with nice story line. A nice break from drama of a hard day. I enjoy Francis Ray’s Work and it was the first one I’ve listened to. The narrator was a bit grating.

What would have made Seven Choices for Success and Significance better?

I purchased this on the recommendation of a friend and while the choices are appropriate, the book has no depth. It feels like it is just a regurgitation of things said by others.

Has Seven Choices for Success and Significance turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but I will be more careful in my selections

Would you be willing to try another one of Erik Synnestvedt’s performances?

The performance was ok, but the content was just bland.
