Historia
The fountainhead of all philosophy and religion, teaches Brother David Steindl-Rast, is our sense of amazement at being in the world. To cross the gap between doctrine and the divine, we have been given the gift of prayer. In The Grateful Heart, you will hear Brother David describe prayer not as a dogmatic ritual but as a way of opening to the blessings that await us in everyday life.

Historia
Before it was a religion, a culture, or even a system of meditation, what was Buddhism? On Buddhism Without Beliefs, celebrated teacher, translator, and former Buddhist monk Stephen Batchelor takes us back to the first years after the Buddha's awakening to reveal the root insights of Buddhism hidden beneath centuries of history and interpretation.

Wonderfully insightful thoughtful perspective. Must read for all western students of the Dharma. Stephen Batchelor brings enormous depth, personal experience, and creativity to this work, read by himself. Thank you.

Historia
This superbly told story brings to life one of the most remarkable rulers––and men––in all of history and conveys the drama of his life and world. The Russia of Peter's birth was very different from the Russia his energy, genius, and ruthlessness shaped. Crowned co-Tsar as a child of ten, after witnessing bloody uprisings in the streets of Moscow, he would grow up propelled by an unquenchable curiosity, everywhere looking, asking, tinkering, and learning, fired by Western ideas.

Awful affected reading - useless rendition of a great book
Revisado: 07-26-21
This book is one of the greatest biographies of all times written by that amazing scholar, Robert Massie - extraordinarily researched and then thoughtfully presented with the most compelling historical storytelling - a true masterwork of research and astute observation about Peter the Great’s extraordinary reign. Unfortunately it is almost impossible to listen to in this audiobook with the reader putting on the most ridiculously affected, vacuous, pompous, unnatural and doubtless greatly cultivated “upper class” British accent that renders Massie’s beautiful, warm and thoughtful prose with the barking, cold, hackneyed staccato of a First World War sergeant, barking out only half the syllables to the point of comical satire. Stopped after listening for 15 minutes and even after trying a second time for great want to like, just could not continue listening to this travesty, having wasted a credit on it. I wish there were a good rendition of this amazing book. And yet this seems to be the only version. Audible please when can we get a better recording that suits this great work? Like the one for Massie’s Catherine the Great - that was top notch.
