Historia
On a day that begins like any other, Hal receives a mysterious letter bequeathing her a substantial inheritance. She realizes very quickly that the letter was sent to the wrong person - but also that the cold-reading skills she's honed as a tarot card reader might help her claim the money. Soon, Hal finds herself at the funeral of the deceased...where it dawns on her that there is something very, very wrong about this strange situation and the inheritance at the center of it. Full of spellbinding menace and told in Ruth Ware's signature suspenseful style, an addictive thriller.

A Brilliant, terrifying story!
Revisado: 06-13-18
This is a brilliant, breath-taking, and terrifying story of how one secret discovered leads to the unraveling of one woman's entire world. And that is just the beginning.
Imogen Church is at her very finest! The Death of Mrs. Westawy is the fourth novel in which they have created a mesmerising audiobook that you can not escape from once you enter the story. It had me in it's grip in it's entirety and I still feel the chill as I write this review! Be sure you have nothing important to do before you start listening - whatever it is it won't get done!

Sensational!
Revisado: 01-18-18
This is the second time I've listened to this audiobook. The first time was almost two years ago and I loved it very much. So much so that it set in my mind, resurfacing every now and then. Strangely enough, I didn't remember how it ended. Perhaps my mind chose not to remember because it wanted to revisit the story again. And so, when I discovered the second DI Clemo novel, Odd Child Out ,in the grocery store, I decided to listen to What She Knew again. And......
WOW! What a grand story it is! The ending never did come back to me until the final twist, but I can assure you that I'll not forget it again!!

Brilliant!
Revisado: 12-14-17
This is the third book I've read/heard by Ruth Ware. I listened to The Woman in Cabin 10, narrated by Imogen Church, and read In A Dark, Dark Wood, loving them both. Not surprisingly, The Lying Game didn't disappoint! More accurately I think this one is my favorite thus far.
Ruth Ware is an exceptionally talented author who can spin a creepy, intriguing, mysterious tale each and every time she puts pen to paper, making her one of my favorite authors. This book is made even better, though I didn't think that possible, by adding narrator, Imogen Church, who, with her voice, reads in even higher elements of anxiety, apprehension, and anticipation to Ruth's words. I could be absorbed just listening to Imogen Church read a phone book!
Between Ruth's writing and Imogen's story telling The lying Game grabs you by the throat and never lets up, just short of strangling you with suspence! Yet, as you become drawn into the drama, deeper and deeper, you become unable &/or unwilling to disengage from the lump in your throat as the layers upon layers of lies are painstakingly pealed away. But, is the truth that is revealed, the whole truth? Or just a different version of a lie?

I was drawn in immediately and could not stop listening! Be careful if you're listening to this in the car as I missed a turn because I was so engrossed in the story.
It's very rare for me to be so moved by a story that I cry but I came so very close with this one! Nicole Trope is a brilliant writer and paired with Susan Stratford's stunning narration this audio book is an incredible experience! Highly recommended.

Historia
When Suzanne Crawford is found stabbed to death and her husband Connor is discovered to be missing, it looks like just another tragic case of domestic violence to Detective Ella Marconi. But as the investigation progresses, it becomes clear that all is not as it seems. Why is there no record of Connor Crawford beyond a few years ago? Why has a teenager who worked for the pair gone missing too? And above all, what was the secret Suzanne knew Connor was keeping at all costs - even from her? As Ella begins to build a picture of the Crawfords' fractured lives, things around her are deteriorating.

Loved it!
Revisado: 08-09-17
Another excellent installment in the Detective Ella Marconi series by Katherine Howell. One of my favorites thus far! The pace is fast, never slowing from beginning to end. Taunt with suspense and anticipation and full of characters with depth, each portrayed with intricately detailed personalities. I loved all the separate stories that entwine together to form a complex plot that comes to a surprising conclusion but leaves tantalizing questions behind to be continued in the next book. I can't wait to see what happens next with all the paramedics, especially Mitch, and his wife Jo, and, of course, what will Ella be up against in her new case.
This is an audio book narrated by Caroline Lee who made the personalities of the characters even more interesting by putting the finishing touches on each one with independent voices and emotions creating individuals who are even more vivid, vibrant, and realistic. By combining the creative writing of Katherine Howell and the colorful narration of Caroline Lee the end result is a story that jumps right off the pages!
