Historia
Even as a girl Morgan has always been wild, like the seas which batter the cliffs beneath her home, Tintagel Castle. But she has always been safe, too. Then one day her father is called away to a war from which he does not return. In his place comes the High King, Uther Pendragon, with the sorcerer Merlin lurking in his wake. Uther claims Morgan’s mother, the Lady Igraine as his queen.

Well written, well read. Revelatory of so many sexist tropes in the historical rendition of Morgan’s story. I loved it

Went straight to audible free for a reason
Revisado: 05-07-23
Believe the one star reviews for a reason. Incredibly predictable, simplistic characters and multiple chapters of two characters addressing a third that go absolutely nowhere and a very abrupt ending. It seems obvious something happened to the author while writing this and she turned it in unfinished. Nothing else makes sense.

Los Angeles is a city of stark contrast, the palaces of the affluent coexisting uneasily with the hellholes of the mad and the needy. That shadow world and the violence it breeds draw brilliant psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware and Detective Milo Sturgis into an unsettling case of altruism gone wrong.

A four hour book dragged out to a six hour yawn
Revisado: 04-09-23
I’ve always liked Jonathon Kellerman but I think I’m done. The main character (Alex Delaware) is simply one dimensional and boring. And the constant descriptions of how wonderful he is just gets old. But the absolute worst thing about this audible book, however, is the narration. The narrator pauses between each word for so long that a sentence feels as if it is extended to twice as long. I actually thought that maybe Kellerman is being paid by the length of the audible presentation. Which would also explain all of the absolute meaningless filler material in the book. The narrator also has a creepy clown voice that is made doubly so when he does his female character’s voices (think sing song baby talk). I’ll make a point of never listening to another book he narrates. So, yeah, pass on this one. I wish I had.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

There’s a lot to unpack here.
Revisado: 02-04-23
And I mean a lot a lot. First, I absolutely believe Prince Harry’s account of his life (well, there’s a story about a Psychic towards the end that strains credulity a great deal), and his hatred of the press certainly makes sense. Horrible. He seems like a nice man, albeit a traumatized one. His description of his mother’s death, and the role it has played in his life made me cry. That all being said, there are some negatives to his account of how things occurred (in my opinion). We as people tend to get “stuck” developmentally at the age of our biggest trauma, and Prince Harry does, indeed, seem to be still a twelve year old in many ways. He sees people in primarily black and white terms, seems to feel helpless in defending himself and has some issues with accountability. He is still clearly locked into bitter rivalry with a brother he clearly loves and, I fear, has lost forever due to this book. William is his biggest target and I’m not sure he is truly as awful as he appears. I think much of it is Harry’s perspective. I also can’t believe that Meghan is as irreproachable as he presents her, either. Regardless, I came away from the book liking him a great deal more than I thought I would, the same for King Charles. Harry is clearly holding back about Camilla, who sounds awful. As are the hundreds of “courtiers” who apparently ruthlessly plant stories in the press. I don’t understand, however, why it took him so long to simply say “no”. But I’m glad for him, and his wife and children, that he finally got away from the wounded twelve year old self and did. I hope he finds some peace and joy in the United States. He’s certainly due.

America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse—the stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce, and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city. As hordes of refugees and looters pour out of the cities, a small group of friends living in the Midwest desperately tries to make their way to a safe-haven ranch in Northern Idaho.

Revisado: 03-19-22
Not a single likable character, from the narcissistic mother to her narcissistic children. The author apparently didn’t care for them either, given that they are only given surface character development. I liked the performance, however, despite other reviewers comments. I think the material was just too bad to read well. Skip it

Ponderous

Just dragged on and on. Not very interesting, no lightness or humor, couldn’t finish it. The narrator sounds like she smokes a pack of cigarettes a day and when she does character’s voices - cringe. I wanted to like it, but can’t.

Historia
In her best-selling memoir North of Normal, Cea wrote with grace about her unconventional childhood - her early years living in a tipi in Alberta with her pot-smoking, free-loving counterculture family. But her struggles do not end when she leaves her family at the age of 13 to become a model. Honest and daring, Nearly Normal reveals the many ways that Cea's unconventional childhood continues to reverberate through the years.

I enjoyed the first book - couldn’t finish this one
Revisado: 09-26-21
I think it might always be a mistake to have an author narrate their own book. They’re not performers and it generally shows. This is no exception. Ms Person’s habit of elongating the final word of each sentence became annoying and hard to listen to.
Ultimately this story was just too much “navel gazing” for me. I certainly applaud the author’s incredible resilience and recognize the validity of her anger (who wouldn’t!?), but it wasn’t a story I found interesting enough to continue reading. I certainly wish her the best but this is a story best told to a therapist. Which, given what she has been through, the author deserves to have!

Not Mr. King’s best, but worthy of a read
Revisado: 09-26-21
I love Stephan King and his kind, gentle, troubled everyman main characters. I enjoyed this book. Though, I recognize the validity of what others are saying; this was all pretty predictable. But that’s ok. I don’t always need to be biting my fingernails and riveted.
As long as Mr King keeps writing, I’ll keep reading.
