Historia
It's a normal night in August. Literature professor Arne and artist Tove are with their children at the resort in Sørlandet. Their friend, Egil, a driver by day, is staying in a cabin nearby. Kathrine, a priest, is on her way home from a seminar; the journalist Jostein is out on the town; and his wife, Turid, who is an assistant nurse, has a night shift. Above them all, a huge star suddenly appears in the sky. No one, not even the astronomers, knows for sure what kind of phenomenon it is.

no plot, just a bunch of disparate character sketches and a whole lot of philosophizing about death and the existence of God.

Historia
It's early one morning on a hot day in August, and millennial congressman Alexander Paine Wilson (R), planning his first reelection campaign and in deep denial about his sexuality, receives a mysterious, over-sized FedEx delivery on his front stoop. Inside is a gigantic taxidermied aardvark. This outrageous, edge-of-your-seat novel hurtles between contemporary Washington, DC, where Wilson tries to get rid of the unsightly beast before it destroys his career, and Victorian England - where we meet Titus Downing, the taxidermist who stuffed the aardvark....

Historia
Set in the 1970s in a run-down, rainy, industrial town, Jo Nesbo's Macbeth centers around a police force struggling to shed an incessant drug problem. Duncan, chief of police, is idealistic and visionary, a dream to the townspeople but a nightmare for criminals. The drug trade is ruled by two drug lords, one of whom - a master of manipulation named Hecate - has connections with the highest in power and plans to use them to get his way.

tragedy
Revisado: 02-14-19
A brilliant retelling of Shakespeare's play set in modern times. The themes of corruption and thirst for power are timeless. The one eyed boy sums it up well when he remarks on the strangeness of using the word humanity to describe what is good after all the terrible things humans to do each other.

Historia
When Bruce Jansen ascends to the White House, he is a changed man, determined to end gun violence by any means necessary. Rights are taken away as quickly as weapons. International travel becomes impossible. Checkpoints and roadblocks destroy infrastructure. The media is censored. Militias declare civil war on the government. The country is in chaos, and Jansen's former friends each find themselves fighting a very different battle, for themselves, their rights, their country... and, in Doggie's case, the life of her father, who just may be innocent.

Historia
This is the story of Skip Sands—spy-in-training, engaged in Psychological Operations against the Vietcong—and the disasters that befall him thanks to his famous uncle, a war hero known in intelligence circles simply as the Colonel. This is also the story of the Houston brothers, Bill and James, young men who drift out of the Arizona desert into a war in which the line between disinformation and delusion has blurred away. In its vision of human folly, and its gritty, sympathetic portraits of men and women desperate for an end to their loneliness.

Historia
Never a doubt. Never a mistake. Always for justice. Never for revenge. She's the person you hire when you need something fixed-permanently. With a strict set of criteria, she evaluates every request and chooses only a few. No more than one job per country, per year. She will only step in if it's clear that justice will not be served any other way. Her jobs are completed with skill and precision, and never result in inquiry or police investigation. The Fixer is invisible - and quite deadly.

The narrator distracted from the story. The voices she used for the various characters were whiny and annoying and she mispronounced words that anyone familiar with the Pacific Northwest would notice.

Special
Revisado: 12-28-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I enjoyed this book - very different from what I usually read. I liked Christopher and empathized with his parents and teacher. It's a good read for learning about some of the different ways people think.
What about Jeff Woodman’s performance did you like?
I enjoyed the narrator's voice inflections that conveyed the feelings of the various characters.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was saddened when I realized that Christopher's mother was not dead. Christopher mentioned many times how much telling the truth meant to him and I knew it would be devastating when he found out that his father had lied.
Any additional comments?
I read several comments from other readers before reading this - it seems that people either love the book or hate it. Not much in between.

so how did the two malingerers manage to escape so easily when Brian did? and 30 years to go back? really? and why did they keep James alive? I liked the book but it was hard to suspend disbelief.
