it was ok.

the alien cat race was my biggest issue. it's a trope that's been used before (Ringworld, Black Ocean, Thundercats, etc.) for one. Despite being alien, they have Earth-derived names for tribes (Tigris, Leonis, Jaguara) They're a tough, warlike race, that purrs, sits on plush pillows, twitches and swishes their tails, and lick-groom themselves (often during important meetings, and negotiations).
Also, there's mass destruction and genocide of all three alien races, but the reader doesn't care that much because it's delivered in a rather impersonal way. there's no emotional attachment to anything.

good stories, wrong narrator
Revisado: 03-15-18
the narrator does a fine job. however they choose a female narrator and 90% of the characters are male.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

great story, to many actors... or not enough...
Revisado: 03-06-18
sometimes it is one narrator, sometimes it's a different actor for each character. it's a little jarring sometimes.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

fantastic original story!
Revisado: 02-14-16
this story will especially strike a chord (a power cord on your air guitar, of course) with the gen-x-ers who grew up in the 80's.
loved it.
