WOW!
Revisado: 03-11-25
Okay, this might not be for everyone. It's not a relax with an audiobook and go to sleep listen. But OMG, as an adult graduate student in the US, about as far away from Art College as one can get, could I relate to the group dynamics!! It kept me guessing most of the time, and I stayed up too late, extending the timer.
The format is different. It took a bit of getting used to it when you realize it is this way for the entire book, but I'm grateful we can hit rewind.
This was enjoyable and another display of the human condition.

I'm being generous with the two stars.
Revisado: 01-28-25
The book is silly, predictable, and poorly researched-prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas. The shall we say intimate scenes were a combination of stomach-turning and stupidity. I don't write many negative reviews, but this book was bad. The narrator was very good; I felt bad for her having to read this ridiculous plot. The worst part is it could have been a decent story, but it wasn't.

Historia
Becky still adores the traditions of Christmas: Her parents host, carols play on repeat, her mother pretends she made the Christmas pudding, and the neighbors come ’round for sherry in their terrible holiday sweaters. Things are looking cheerier than ever, until Becky’s parents announce they’re moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch - unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocados - and ask Becky if she’ll host this year. What could possibly go wrong?

I couldn't stop laughing
Revisado: 01-08-25
I absolutely love Sophie Kinsella's books, all of them. But the Shopaholic books are my favorite. I listen to books before bed, and I couldn't sleep, because instead of drifting off, I kept laughing.
I seriously can't get enough of her books!

Historia
The teenagers get their kicks telling ghost stories in the old graveyard. The parents trust their kids will arrive home safe from school. Everyone knows everyone. Curtains rarely twitch. Front doors are left unlocked. But Diana Brewer isn’t lying safely in her bed where she belongs. Instead she lies in a hayfield, circled by vultures, discovered by a local farmer. How quickly a girl becomes a ghost. How quickly a town of friendly, familiar faces becomes a town of suspects, a place of fear and paranoia.

I loved this book. I was looking for my next read and stumbled across this book, my first from this author. Some characters are developed immediately, and others more over time; I enjoyed this book very much.

Historia
She’s got a great job at a VA Hospital, an adorable daughter, and a loving husband. Granted, it would be wonderful if her preschooler wouldn’t wake her up at three in the morning, and it would be a miracle if her husband would change the toilet paper roll once every millennium. Still, in most ways, she has the ideal life she’d always imagined. Then Jane discovers that Dr. Ryan Reilly is the VA’s newest vascular surgeon. Dr. Ryan Reilly, a.k.a. sexy surgeon, a.k.a. the biggest jerk she ever loved.

Revisado: 05-08-24
I am starting a clinical rotation, and the first book was precisely what I needed, and book 2 was a great follow up -
My 4th book by this author, and she is a fantastic writer.
OMG, I was reviewing my reviews, and somehow, the story only had 1 star! A 5 for sure!!!

A really good book!
Revisado: 08-21-23
I love historical fiction and gravitate towards The Tudors et al., But I also love learning about old New York. The author describes the many dynamics of Little Italy, Italian and other immigrants, and the cultural aspects after WWI. The characters are interesting, and I learned a lot about that era.
I enjoyed this very much.

Historia
In 1971, Go Ask Alice reinvented the young adult genre with a blistering portrayal of sex, psychosis, and teenage self-destruction. The supposed diary of a middle-class addict, Go Ask Alice terrified adults and cemented LSD's fearsome reputation, fueling support for the War on Drugs. Five million copies later, Go Ask Alice remains a divisive bestseller, outraging censors and earning new fans, all of them drawn by the book's mythic premise: A Real Diary, by Anonymous.

I Couldn't Stop Listening
Revisado: 07-24-22
An unplanned read/listen
I was listening to a podcast between audio books and Go Ask Alice was the topic. I knew there was controversy about the author/editior but had no idea how deep it went.
I am not bothered by Go Ask Alice, I read it as a teen and I still think it is a good book despite contradictions.
I had no idea about the second book the author spends much time on. The story broke my heart. The devastation of a very real family was absolutely heart wrenching. Any good from the first book is completely wiped out by this story.
I found myself googling for more information and was disappointed. The story left me wanting to know more about the life of Sparks and where she was vs where she claimed to be.
I would have liked a reference list-probably because I'm persuing a real doctorate degree and have to refernce everything.
This is a powerful story.

Great Story
Revisado: 07-14-21
I needed to read some thing that would make me laugh, but more importantly the book illustrates some of the layers of the human condition. This book illustrates thoughts words and actions, there was some predictability in the plot but I was pleasantly surprised several times in the story. As soon as I’m done with this review I’m going to download another book from the author
