Historia
In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

Utter indictment of Trump and the GOP
Revisado: 04-24-25
Stunning summary of the evidence of the January 6 rebellion and its aftermath in terms of the now ensuing dismantling of our democracy.

Historia
Eleven-year-old Amrie St. Pierre is catching tadpoles with her friend Finn O'Reilly when the Federal fleet first steams up the Mississippi River in the spring of 1862. With the surrender of New Orleans, Amrie's sleepy little village of St. Francisville - strategically located between the last river outposts of Vicksburg and Port Hudson - is now frighteningly vulnerable. As the roar of canons inches ever closer and food, shoes, and life-giving medicines become increasingly scarce, Amrie is forced to grow up fast.

Good narration and the arc of the story. Good characters, consistent and relatable. I have not previously read a novel from the female Southern experience.

Historia
Connie Chung is a pioneer. In 1969 at the age of 23, this once-shy daughter of Chinese parents took her first job at a local TV station in her hometown of Washington, D.C. and soon thereafter began working at CBS news as a correspondent. Profoundly influenced by her family’s cultural traditions, yet growing up completely Americanized in the United States, Chung describes her career as an Asian woman in a white male-centered world.

Sincere telling of the good and the bad
Revisado: 10-21-24
Chung comes across as both humble and proud; still questioning herself about decisions she made and holding herself accountable but also not shrinking from calling out the sexism and racism she encountered. It’s always better when the author is the narrator of an autobiography.

Lifetime TV comes to Audible
Revisado: 06-06-24
I like the coach portion- the rest was just unimaginably bad. Nothing creative, new or interesting - very formalistic and predictable. What decade was this written - the eighties?

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

Historia
A startlingly vivid portrayal of the 1960s, as seen through the eyes of two ill-fated college lovers. The story of their generation spills across some of the era’s most iconic settings: the legendary battleground of Khe Sanh; a Midwestern campus riven by dissent; and Altamont Speedway, scene of the notorious rock festival that ended the sixties.

Historia
From the bustling streets of post-Great War London to the idyllic 1920s Sussex countryside, this is a breathtaking story of passion and persistence from a phenomenal Australian storyteller about how true love can overcome incredible odds, even in the most extraordinary circumstances. A humble soldier, known only as "Jones", wakes in hospital with no recollection of his past. The few fleeting fragments of memory he glimpses are horrifying moments from the battlefield at Ypres.

Random Harvest revisited
Revisado: 07-17-22
Similar to the plot of Random Harvest but with a more feminist perspective. Still enjoyable. The 1941 James Hilton novel is very different from the movie with Greer Garson but both are good.
