Historia
On February 17, 2022, Brittney Griner arrived in Moscow ready to spend the WNBA offseason playing for the Russian women’s basketball team where she had been the centerpiece of previous championship seasons. Instead, a security checkpoint became her gateway to hell when she was arrested for mistakenly carrying under one gram of medically prescribed hash oil. Brittney’s world was violently upended in a crisis she has never spoken in detail about publicly—until now.

Brittney’s powerful love and great is humanity, masterfully conveyed.
Revisado: 08-11-24
Brittney always digs deep, loves deep and shares generously. In this riveting and well written memoir, I was drawn into her vast world. I love her dedication, love and gratitude to the people in her life and all those who went above and beyond to bring her home. I had no idea about all the bad actors who put her and her loved ones at risk. The harassment and hate from the hateful people was ignorant and abhorrent.
I’m in awe of Brittney’s capacity to love and communicate her love to her wife, family and nd those who became family during her life and during her ordeal.
The book was especially well read, on Audible. This book is a treasure. I highly recommend it and will let my friends know about it.
Wishing all well.

Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

The sisterhood that developed in this book was genuine and remarkable
Revisado: 11-30-23
I liked many things about this book. The chapters contained letters to loved ones about the women’s experiences. That was a good way to get to know the large group of Smith Alumni. The book was beautifully written and thoroughly researched. This was a page turner and it was lovely the way the books came out. Read it. It’s quite engaging.

Joined at the hip, idealistic Grace, exuberant Poppy, and brave but haunted April frolic in the sun, attending parties, flirting with the handsome soldiers, and becoming fast friends with seasoned nurse Eva. Like the Hawaiian sun, their future seems warm and bright - until the infamous morning of December 7.

It was a page turner
Revisado: 11-20-23
The story line was most engaging. I have read a lot of historical fiction and history books about WWII. I learned so much about women and their part in the war and in the resistance in France. This was a very unexpected take on the history of Dunkirk. Most enjoyable.

As a fan of Tony on CBS Mornings I finally read Tony’s book. It was well written, and absorbing . What a great (but tough) story told in a way that kept me going back for more. I hope he writes more books. My only disappointment is he didn’t read the book himself. Thanks fir a great read.
