Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

No Harry… first time?
Revisado: 03-07-25
Don’t get me wrong, Ballard is a solid MC, but I just thought this was going to be another combo book with both of them. The story is good, too. I’ll always be a little disappointed that this author’s books are so short, too. Spoiled by fantasy series that have 40 hour books, I guess, but it sure why we deserve less entertainment owe dollar because it’s crime/mystery.

If you’re thinking about this book, just do it. The narration is perfect and sets a tone that captures the spirit I think the author was trying to convey.

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

I liked this one much more than Heaven’s River. Worth a listen for sure but it doesn’t have that “pull you through each page,” affect of the first couple.

Loved it all… wish he would dive a little deeper sometimes, but this author likes to get on through to the end without much fluff or fanfare. Good stuff and never boring.

Historia
Walt thinks he might find the answers he's looking for among the ruins of an old Native American boarding school—an institution designed to strip Native children of their heritage. He has been haunted by the image of the Fort Pratt Industrial Indian Training School ever since he first saw a faded postcard picturing a hundred boys in uniform, in front of a large, ominous building—a postcard that was given to him by Jimmy Lane, the father of Jeanie One Moon.

Historia
Savannah was unlike any city Derek had ever been to. For the first time since his arrival in Cydaria, Derek actually met a respectable city lord. Natalie Savannah and the city she ruled were much more than he’d imagined. With this combination, Derek made the decision to put down roots by building a shop from scratch and moving his people in. He was even able to get Silvi the beloved kitchen that she so desired, along with personally meeting Alanah Swan and learning new things about the new system he was thrown into—things that only someone who was truly strong would know.

Too bad every book is planned to be 14 hours
Revisado: 05-18-24
This is a good story and I'm stuck in it, but I'm seriously frustrated that this guy is being guided to write short books where he barely clears the end of one concept before hitting us for another payment. It isn't the best book series I've read, and no where near as good as prime authors like Sanderson, King, or many others, so I typically shelf books like this when I see they're written this way. Still, I'm curious, so I keep shucking bucks at it to see how things turn out for the characters. If the first several books were combined, it'd be a decent value... as long as he didn't insist on rereading his entire stat sheet with every small change. Frustrating, but decent. If the length doesn't bug you, give it a go.

Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

Great but sadly short…
Revisado: 10-04-23
I have a standard for audiobook series and generally, anything under 12 hours per credit is just too short. If it’s really good, I’ll consider books under 17 or so. I’ve looked at this many time and I really enjoyed it, but I’m on a book budget. Make a two for one sale on these (iirc they’re 7-8 hours each), and I’m in. Quite a good start and an enjoyable start checking the rest of the boxes. Thanks for putting it on Plus.

Revisado: 10-02-23
Over time, this has grown into a truly sweeping story so full of interesting characters and sun plots that there’s never a time that I’m not interested in 4-5 scenes at a time. I’m always anxious to see what is coming next.
I offer a huge shout of support to both the author (who has improved in style markedly over the series, and the narrator who fits perfectly.
One of my favorite all-time series and I’m just scared she’ll find a way to bring it to and end!

There’s nothing more that needs to be said. It’s nearly perfect. This guy should give Patrick Rothfuss a lesson on how to finish, as long as he keeps going like this. I’m a little scared the next book might be the last but I’d rather have a real ending than something stretched out, like some other authors have done. Thank you to all involved!
