Kind of boring
Revisado: 07-15-24
I don’t know if I’ll keep going in this series. This book was fairly boring. I shouldn’t have expected too much because book 1 wasn’t great either. It just doesn’t progress and there’s a lot of back and forth between the 3 groups.

Historia
A great primal power has risen. The Queen of Flesh and Fire has become the Primal of Blood and Bone—the true Primal of Life and Death. And the battle Casteel, Poppy, and their allies have been fighting has only just begun. Gods are awakening across Iliseeum and the mortal realm, readying for the war to come. But when Poppy falls into stasis, Cas faces the very real possibility that the dire, unexpected consequences of what she is becoming could take her away from him.

What a junky story - it’s like a clip show episode when they need to add one more and are out of ideas.
Revisado: 05-13-24
The narrator is marginal at best. I know he started in the last book, but I hated it then. You spend 3 books with one narrator and then get dual voices for each character. Nothing new in this book until the last 13 minutes. Super disappointed.

Historia
Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Revisado: 04-08-24
The story isn’t that great. Could use more background on why the story is being told. The narrator is great and that’s what’s compelling me to continue the series.

Better towards the end
Revisado: 02-18-24
I LOVE Marissa Meyer’s books. This one, less so. I was looking forward to it and listened to Instant Karma right before purchasing With A Little Luck. The narrator change threw me off. Not because it’s - male narrator from Jude’s perspective, because the voices don’t match within the 2 books. Plus Rebecca Soler does a much better job. This narrator cannot do female voices. The beginning of the book had me rolling my eyes A LOT. By the end I was smiling though.

Lots of plot monologue
Revisado: 02-12-24
I’ve loved the series. But this book was the culmination of a lot of things and there were so many times that there was dialogue to fill in plot details. That threw me off a bit.

Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

Happy to hear Nesta’s story, but like others narration is TERRIBLE
Revisado: 07-21-23
I usually return books when the narration is bad. I wanted to hear this story. The narration is just that l, absolutely terrible. I will never put myself through another book read by Stina Nielsen. Why let it go this route? I can get by with it being a different narrator because it’s Nesta’s story, but I can’t get over how this performance doesn’t even deserve 1 star.

Good pace, a little underwhelming, but entertaining
Revisado: 03-22-23
Mildly entertaining. Ending on each book so far in the series has made me curious about what’s next, but not an absolute NEED to know what’s next. Will be continuing the series because I’ve enjoyed listening to the books.

I enjoy these books. They’re entertaining and have fun fairytale twists. Sometimes things go a little too much in a weird repetitive cycle, but even so, the series is fun and I have favorite characters that I want to see have happy endings

Escape entertainment
Revisado: 02-12-23
Possible mild spoilers…in this book, there are gender stereotypes challenged. I enjoy thinking about the ups and downs friendships and relationships take. The definition of love considered. It’s not the most fantastic story ever, but I enjoy the books!

Amazing story telling
Revisado: 02-21-22
I have loved all of Marissa Meyer’s books. The story telling is fun to follow. Some may think too predictable, but these are the escape stories I need. I can listen, enjoy and relate to the characters. Can’t wait for the next installment.
Rebecca Soler is becoming one of my favorite narrators as well. She’s easy to listen to. She tells the story so well and I can see that she’s relating to the characters too. I wouldn’t say she’s the absolute best out there, but her consistency and bringing Meyer’s stories to life are a joy to listen to.
