The amount of detail given is amazing and highly educational. A bit difficult to follow so many characters, but a great series of books. Looking forward to the release of the fourth book.

Historia
VOYAGE TO THE LAST FRONTIER... The first book in the dramatic and intriguing story about the colonisation of Australia: a country built on blood, passion, and dreams. They were transported from 1780s' England, packed like cattle in cargo compartments: scammers and prostitutes, thieves and murderers — doomed to build His Majesty's new colony in Captain Cook's anchorage in Botany Bay. It was a cruel fate even for the toughest of individuals but especially for 15-year-old Jenny Taggart, who was sentenced to lifelong exile for a crime she did not commit.

Historia
In 1587, a fleet of English ships set sail for the Virginia colony. During a storm, one ship became separated from the others and was never seen again. The settlers on board were presumed lost at sea, but there is both historical and legendary evidence that the colonists actually founded the Roanoke colony.

Historia
The Civil War tore at the very roots of our nation and destroyed most of a generation. In rural Arkansas, the Hancocks were devastated by that war. They not only lost everything, but experienced an unimaginable hell. How does a traumatized human being put themselves back together? Where does a person begin to heal his or her broken mind…and does one choose damnation or redemption? For the Hancock siblings: Doc, Sarah, Butler, and Billy, the American frontier becomes a metaphor for the wilderness within—raw, and capable of being shaped.

Terrific book! William Gear is a gifted written with a fabulous knowledge of history and the West. A bit rough to read as his details are quite graphic, but, other than that, I truly look forward to MORE from this author.

Historia
Twenty years past, in 1757, a young Redcoat, Reginald Aubrey stole a newborn boy - the lighter-skinned of Oneida twins - during the devastating fall of Fort William Henry and raised him as his own. No one connected to Reginald escaped unscathed from this crime. Not his adopted daughter, Anna. Not Stone Thrower, the Native American father determined to get his son back. Not Two Hawks, William's twin brother separated since birth, living in the shadow of his absence and hoping to build a future with Anna.

Historia
Through Jim Burden's endearing, smitten voice, we revisit the remarkable vicissitudes of immigrant life in the Nebraska heartland, with all its insistent bonds. Guiding the way are some of literature's most beguiling characters: the Russian brothers plagued by memories of a fateful sleigh ride, Antonia's desperately homesick father and self-indulgent mother, and the coy Lena Lingard. Holding the pastoral society's heart, of course, is the bewitching, free-spirited Antonia.

Everything thing I had hoped it would be . . .
Revisado: 03-03-23
I so enjoyed this book! Been looking for historical accounts of settlers and farmers across America and it’s clear that “farming/agriculture” searches through Amazon have been “POLITICIZED” to be viewed as quite “damaging to the environment and BAD”. Therefore, in an attempt to find books that more honestly represented the early immigrants’ farming experiences, I changed my search term to “pioneers” and found “My Antonia” . . . It is so much more!!! Begins with Nebraska sod-hut farmers and follows their families through their lives, struggles, loves, successes and failures. A marvelous book, earning the recommendation of Ken Burns. If this genre interests you, don’t miss “My Antonia”!
