Our family is grown now, and we still enjoy. Excellent narration. Any family that is complex, chaotic and artistic ought to treat themselves to this recording, especially on a car trip.

Historia
On a cold spring night in 1952, a huge meteorite fell to earth and obliterated much of the East Coast of the US, including Washington, DC. The ensuing climate cataclysm will soon render the Earth inhospitable for humanity, as the last such meteorite did for the dinosaurs. This looming threat calls for a radically accelerated effort to colonize space and requires a much-larger share of humanity to take part in the process. Elma York’s drive to become the first lady astronaut is so strong that even the most dearly held conventions of society may not stand a chance against her.

Well done

Carefully written, manages to show something of the lived experience of being a woman in a technical field without polemics. Handles the issue of working with anxiety very believably. Very good narration.
It is inexplicable that the author would never bring up birth control. She uses sex in the narrative, and babies would clearly be an issue for the space program. Undermines the work in my opinion.
