All the dialogue in this book between the characters seems to be them, talking back over their shoulder to the reader, to explain things, instead of allowing us to figure them out for ourselves. Very corny not to mention that the narrator voice is a 62 year old woman like she’s 95. Lazily written. I have listened to just over half of the first book and I hope I can just return the entire box and get my one credit back.

I literally could not finish the story. Performance by the narrator was good, but I fell asleep every time, listening to the story and could not finish it. It was extremely boring to me.

In my opinion it was extremely corny. The dialogue, the story, a lot of cringe worthy moments. my eyes and making eventually correct predictions about the storyline The narration was pretty good, but I am one and done with this series.

I love the format of multiple performers, narrating the characters, and I think they did a good job. But I don’t know what the story was supposed to be. It’s called horror, but it was extremely corny.

This is not like some of the authors previous work. The story kind of meandered all over the place, the dialogue between the characters seem to drone on unnecessarily quite often for no real reason. The story is incomplete and the narration……. This guy is better off doing voiceover work for cartoons. He made it hard to take this story seriously in spite of its self. Both the story and the narration were terrible. Can’t win them all I suppose.

Preachy, condescending and corny. I lost the story several times because of all the plot holes. Read like it was written by a very talented 12 year old. Again, very corny.

Not as impressed with the most recent book in the series; I just didn’t like how it exclusively focused on the situation at the rig. But overall I love the series. I hope future books get back out and explore the world.

This series is bad. I’ve tried to trudge through it despite how it drags on but I can’t anymore. The narration is not good. It’s overacted and the narrator makes all American accents sound like a cross between Matthew Mcconaughey and Forrest Gump. By book 3, there is no longer a plot. Just constant skirmishes. Very few times have I ever dropped a series without finishing it, but this is certainly one.

The story is very good, I’m enjoying it through two books so far. BUT..... the narration is ridiculous. The guy reading the story gives characters voices that are a cross between extreme stereotypes and Sesame Street characters. I was fighting to pay attention to the content of the story in spite of the narration. It’s really that bad. He narrates a 17 year old kid as though he were 12, and he makes another character sound like Kermit the Frog. There’s a military character named Ochoa that he makes sound like a member of MS-13. Just because the guy has a Latino last name doesn’t mean he has to have an extremely stereotypical accent. If you can find a version that doesn’t not have Charles Hubbell as narrator, I would recommend it.

This is the slowest developing story I’ve ever heard in my entire life. I’d rather read a day by day account of Methuselah’s nap. Nothing happens until chapter 20. TWENTY. It was 7 hours of crap. I had to take a break to write this. The only reason I trudge on is because I used money on it. Lesson learned. It’s an EXTREMELY preachy, unrealistic story that is hard for the most open minded to give credit to. The narration combined with the story line and child-like dialogue reminds me of Winnie the Pooh doing a voice over on a script of an Uber-Christian themed episode of “Hey Jessie”. I’m just going to learn my lesson, cut my losses and ditch the rest of the story. I’ll go find myself another Nicholas Sansbury Smith book.
