Historia
Told through the voice of a woman with a powerful intellect that is maddeningly slipping away, Turn of Mind is not only a suspenseful psychological thriller that pulses with intensity but also a brilliant portrayal of the fragility of consciousness and memory, and of a mind finally turning on itself.

Graceful, uncanny, and uncompromising
Revisado: 09-22-12
The main character is not exactly lovable -- she is formidable and blunt, with a brilliant mind that sees the poetry of life but assigns it no particular reverence -- so it is hard to explain why I felt such a loss as she slipped away just as I was getting to know her. It's not a comforting book, but it's graceful and fascinating all the same.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: It is a truth universally acknowledged that anyone looking for a great listen won’t be able to resist Jane Austen’s delightful classic of love and manners in Regency England. Jane Austen's story of Mrs. Bennet's finding husbands for her daughters is told with wit and charm. A must for lovers of good literature. Commuters Library presents Pride and Prejudice read by Kate Reading.

A wonderful performance
Revisado: 09-22-12
Kate Reading's narration brings out the color, liveliness, and biting wit of the novel, which is no mean feat, given its large cast of characters. You can tell she had fun recording it, which makes it all the more enjoyable to listen to. Don't worry if she seems to be speaking too rapidly at the beginning; that's just her voice for Mrs. Bennett, and it is perfect. This version of P&P is my favorite -- it even beats out the BBC miniseries, where Mr. Darcy jumps in a pond for no apparent reason.

Historia
Unlock a new level of fear. It is well known among law enforcement personnel that murderers can be categorized on a scale of 25 levels of evil, from the naive opportunists starting out at Level 1 to the organized, premeditated torture-murderers who inhabit Level 25. What almost no one knows is that a new category of killer is in the process of being defined. Only one man belongs to this group. His targets: Anyone. His methods: Unlimited. His alias: Sqweegel. His classification: Level 26.

The protagonist's name is Dark. That says it all.

I know "cliche-ridden" is itself a cliche, but damn, this book is cliche-ridden. The actor certainly makes the serial killer character interesting, and he seems to be having fun -- I'm glad someone is -- but the good guys are so damn boring, and the bad guy stops being interesting after a few chapters. Disappointing!
