Reid & Greg See a positive future for AI & Humans
Revisado: 04-10-25
Read Hoffman and Greg Beato do a great job of taking us through the the history of the development of artificial intelligence, while they also revisit the sociological impacts of technological advancements . At times the book is very academic, and I learned a ton. However, there is a philosophical aspect to Superagency that has a very positive drum beat for what AI will bring to the world moving forward. My take away?.... Every major technological advancement has created more jobs and more opportunities for human beings. with some discipline, AI should be no different. (No AI was used to write this review.. and it shows)

How did an upstart studio conquer the world? In MCU, beloved culture writers Joanna Robinson, Dave Gonzales, and Gavin Edwards draw on more than a hundred interviews with actors, producers, directors, and writers to present the definitive chronicle of Marvel Studios and its sole ongoing production, the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thorough and revealing history of Marvel Studios
Revisado: 11-05-23
Robinson, Gonzales and Edwards were able to get many, many behind the scenes details of how Marvel Studios was formed, the bets they made, the directors and actors they hired, The ones that worked, the ones that didn't and why. Now I know why Jon Favreau stopped directing the Iron-man serie and why the tone changed in the Thor series, leading to the most successful comedy in movie history (Thor Ragnarok) how the Disney + shows helped then hurt the studio. It also does a terrific job of painting a picture of Kevin Feige. The narration was awesome. Over-all a total winner. I look forward to the 2nd printing with an update on this next phase of movies.

Historia
On July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed in the South Pacific by a Japanese submarine. An estimated 300 men were killed upon impact; close to 900 sailors were cast into the Pacific Ocean, where they remained undetected by the navy for nearly four days and nights. Battered by a savage sea, they struggled to stay alive, fighting off sharks, hypothermia, and dementia. By the time rescue arrived, all but 317 men had died. The captain's subsequent court-martial left many questions unanswered

Historia
As the ash and chaos from Mount Rainier’s eruption swirled and finally settled, the story of the Greenloop massacre has passed unnoticed, unexamined...until now. The journals of resident Kate Holland, recovered from the town’s bloody wreckage, capture a tale too harrowing - and too earth-shattering in its implications - to be forgotten. In this audiobook, Max Brooks brings Kate’s extraordinary account to light for the first time, faithfully reproducing her words alongside his own extensive investigations into the massacre and the legendary beasts behind it.

Existence of a Yeti More believable than Our Hero
Revisado: 08-02-20
A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacre Sounds pretty awesome - then considering it's by the author who brought us World War Z - I decided to "pre-order" the audible book. Things started out kind of promising. From the list of Narrators I thought I'd hear many voices telling this story. When I heard the nervous, whiney voice of Kate I said to my self - "oh no, I hope I don't hear this voice - or - this character for very long." Well, bad news - this character tells the bulk of this story. Nothing against the voice actor here, even if there was a different narrator this story wouldn't have been much better. I could care less if any of the human's lived, and was left wondering about the Sasquatch pack. The biggest problem with this book is The main Character Arch is totally and completely unbelievable. ---- On a positive note: This book does parallel real life as it has a natural disaster mixed with some social unrest and isolation AND it got Terry Gross to do a few lines of acting which was fun.

More of a History of Michael Eisner - Rise & Fall
Revisado: 03-05-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The first 3rd is very interesting because it involved the transition from a family company to more of a corporation - it also features 2 big creative personalities katzenberg and Eisner
What other book might you compare DisneyWar to and why?
I picked this book because I hoped it would be as good as HOW STAR WARS CONQUERED THE UNIVERSE and CONSOLE WARS - the first 3rd was as good
What does Patrick Lawlor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He's solid - he also narrated iWoz - he was better here.
Do you think DisneyWar needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Nope
Any additional comments?
Again - first third is solid, then the book becomes how "Michael Eisner sees the universe" which becomes less interesting

Historia
A mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video-game industry. In 1990, Nintendo had a virtual monopoly on the video-game industry. Sega, on the other hand, was just a faltering arcade company with big aspirations and even bigger personalities. But all that would change with the arrival of Tom Kalinske, a former Mattel executive who knew nothing about video games and everything about fighting uphill battles.

Blake's story + Fred's words = perfection
Revisado: 07-22-15
Captures the cultural (and financial) phenomenon of the early go go days of the video game industry by using an amazing cast of real life characters led by a very likable Tom Kalinske. Fred Berman's narration of this book is possibly the best of anything available on audible.
