Very interesting!
Revisado: 03-07-20
First of all, I loved the narrator! It was the perfect dark raspy voice for a story like this.
I’m so glad I finally listened to it as I’ve always wondered what 1984 was like. It didn’t disappoint, and although it was a bit slow at times the intensity always picked up again.

OK
Revisado: 06-16-19
The book was definitely worth listening to as a free Audible Original addition. In the beginning I thought it was very boring as there was a lot of reminiscing of the past, and when I look back at it, I still feel that we didn't need all that reminiscing to get to know the character. But as it's about a boy that's stranded on a foreign planet I crossed my fingers something exciting would eventually happen. And it does. About half way into the book (although a bit too long in my opinion) it gets very interesting and the pay off is super cool and totally unexpected. I kind of almost wanted there to be a sequel.
I only gave the performance three stars because the narrator spoke very monotonously and moody, but I guess that was actually good as it was depicting the character that was a whiny teenage boy. But it wasn't really all that pleasant to listen to.

Historia
The most influential work of the entire Spanish literary canon and a founding work of modern Western literature, Don Quixote is also one of the greatest works ever written. Hugely entertaining but also moving at times, this episodic novel is built on the fantasy life of one Alonso Quixano, who lives with his niece and housekeeper in La Mancha. Quixano, obsessed by tales of knight errantry, renames himself ‘Don Quixote’ and with his faithful servant Sancho Panza, goes on a series of quests.

Actually funny
Revisado: 06-16-19
I was kind of expecting it to be a bit boring, but this was actually funny, engaging and sometimes even made me laugh out loud! It is a bit long at times, as older books don't tend to rush story development nor thoughts and philosophy, and I usually get annoyed when characters in a book start telling a long story, but I always found myself intrigued and wanting to hear more. And it's really cool get an accurate insight of how they lived back then, because this was actually written at the time it's depicting and not by a modern person imagining what it was like in those days. I've only listened to the first half (1st book), and as it's written in a bit of an old fashioned manner, which can get a bit dreary in the long run, I think I'll have a little break before starting on book two.
But this is the best narrator I've ever listened too! He has a pleasant voice, and also acts the characters without overacting, making it all sound flowy and natural.

Historia
Does nature really make us feel better? The 3-Day Effect takes a look at the science behind why being in the wild can make us happier, healthier, and more creative. Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, hiking in Utah’s wilderness, or walking through Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, scientists are finding that the more exposure humans have to nature, the more we can benefit from reduced anxiety, enhanced creativity, and overall well-being.

Interesting even though it wasn't what I expected
Revisado: 06-16-19
This was less fact driven than I thought it would be, I thought this was going to be a scientific book about how nature calms your brain, (as it says on the cover) but this is more of a journalistic piece that tests the theory out with different groups of people. There isn't really any scientific proof of the 3-day effect yet, so this was more of a journalistic investigation with interviews and testing, which I still found to be an interesting listen. Although I think the description is a little bit misleading.

Boring
Revisado: 05-19-19
Everything was so slow and the narration was so monotone and boring that even when something exciting happened he made it sound like it was a mundane everyday task. I pressed myself to listen through the introduction of the story, because I heard it was only slow in the beginning, but quickly understood that it maybe wasn’t just the slow pace that bored me, but the narration itself. I returned the book and I haven’t regretted it

Revisado: 01-31-19
I loved this book. It was intriguing all the way, always wondering what was going to happen next. Full of cool characters whom I was rooting for. The only tiny downside is that I got so into the story it got me a little depressed sometimes. It's an exciting book, but slightly dark.

Magical
Revisado: 01-31-19
One of the things I love is when a story can take place in the real world, but there is something hidden and magical there too. This book is perfect for that. I also have a weakness for using elements of time and mystery which was a big reason for me to keep reading. The one thing that almost made me fall out of the story was all the explaining. Throughout the book there was a lot of sitting and talking with people who had to explain the rules and the "concept" of their world, which I found quite boring. I think that it's more fun when things are discovered rather than told, but that's just my personal opinion. I enjoyed the book, but don't think I'll be reading the next one.
