Historia
Just as I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. Here, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams.

My sister-in-law sent me the book and I was hesitant to read. I’m not a big page turner but I love audible. So I used my last credit and purchase the audible. I’m glad I did. I learned a lot about Ms. Tyson and thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. Filled with honesty and integrity. I highly recommend.

I love these Sheriff Longmire books. The narrator is very calming and soothing even in the face of murders. I love Longmire’s relationship with the Indian chief and the people. Great read.

Historia
To all appearances, Dan Chase is a harmless retiree in Vermont with two big mutts and a grown daughter he keeps in touch with by phone. But most 60-year-old widowers don't have multiple driver's licenses, savings stockpiled in banks across the country, and a bugout kit with two Beretta Nanos stashed in the spare bedroom closet. Most have not spent decades on the run.

The stark grief of a brother mourning a brother opens this novel with a stunning, unforgettable experience. Here, in a monumental saga of love and rage, Baldwin goes back to Harlem, to the church of his groundbreaking novel Go Tell It on the Mountain, to the homosexual passion of Giovanni's Room, and to the political fire that inflames his nonfiction work.

"What a tangled web"
Revisado: 03-25-16
Ok, up to about chapter 12, I was about to return the book. I just could not get into it. I loved the English dialect but the storyline was flat and dragging, not motivating. But once, Sadie Sparrow visited granddad Bertie and got curious, it picked up and I really enjoyed the rest of the book. The tangled webs of Anthony, Ben, Alice, Eleanor, Constant and the rest. I will definitely listen to this again, just keeping in mind of the slow start.

This book was just ok, not great. Nothing outstanding to me about the story or the plot. Although the story deals with real life threats, I don't know if it's the reader or the plot that just did not do anything for me. I like to differentiate between the voices of the characters, it gives the story life, but these character voices were boring. I was expecting more action and suspense but to me this was just a tale being told. I have read other Lisa Gardner books and have enjoyed them, "Catch Me" was great.

Chains on my brain
Revisado: 02-17-16
I bought this book looking for a good read. I was disappointed, it was just another slave story reading. I would like to have read something with a little fight in it and not just your typical slave beat down story. I assume there is a follow up book because I thought that she got a pass just for herself and not her sister or her friend. The book ended so abruptly with her reaching New Jersey and not SC. Not bad reading but not great.
