Meander, Spiral, Explode is a singular and brilliant elucidation of literary strategies that also brings high spirits and wit to its original conclusions. It is a liberating manifesto that says, Let's leave the outdated modes behind and, in thinking of new modes, bring feeling back to experimentation. It will appeal to serious readers and writers alike.

Interesting, but print highly recommended.

The premise intrigued me, but the examples selected were often so sensational in their themes (sexuality, racism, violence) that it distracted from the discussion of their structure. Several of the analyses did not work well in audiobook form, so I'd highly recommend a print copy to future readers. In general, I found the concepts interesting, but will look for another author's teaching on the subject.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Excellent performance, probably better on paper

I almost stopped listening at several points. The story is told in a first person stream of consciousness narration and the character is incredibly defensive and sarcastic. Well written, but not someone you'd enjoy monologuing for hours. I recommend the book, but in written format.

Historia
Immigration is a fraught and misunderstood topic in America’s social discourse, with much of what we believe based largely on myth. Ran Abramitzky and Leah Boustan have spent the last decade searching for the facts. Their pioneering research digs deep into the data on immigration, linking the experiences of immigrants from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to those of immigrants today. Using powerful storytelling alongside big data, they provide new evidence about the past and present of the American Dream that will change our thinking and policies.

Well researched & wonderfully explained
Revisado: 08-30-22
Challenging commonly held beliefs, the authors share an excellent mix of narrative and research to build a remarkably robust picture of US immigration. Narrator strikes an excellent tone for the material and guides listeners through the passages explaining research methodology with clarity.
