Why we think it’s a great listen: You thought he was a stodgy scientist with funny hair, but Isaacson and Hermann reveal an eloquent, intense, and selfless human being who not only shaped science with his theories, but politics and world events in the 20th century as well. Based on the newly released personal letters of Albert Einstein, Walter Isaacson explores how an imaginative, impertinent patent clerk became the mind reader of the creator of the cosmos.

Just brilliant, as per usual for Isaacson. We’ve all known of Einstein but to go into intricate detail of his intellectual and personal life is really telling. Great narrator and production value too. It’s amazing how much we can account for without the individual actually being here today. Great stuff!

Historia
Humans are awesome. Our brains are gigantic, seven times larger than they should be for the size of our bodies. The human brain uses 25 percent of all the energy the body requires each day. And it became enormous in a very short amount of time in evolution, allowing us to leave our cousins, the great apes, behind. So the human brain is special, right? Wrong, according to Suzana Herculano-Houzel. Humans have developed cognitive abilities that outstrip those of all other animals but not because we are evolutionary outliers.

The story of our brains is great to hear. This is a very technical book, and it has many graphs. Luckily there’s an Accompanying PDF. Unfortunately, the narration never says WHEN to view these while listening!
