I enjoyed the series so much that I am listening to it again after a couple of years. I find the writing excellent, the stories engaging, and the characters interesting. The narrator has a marvelous ability with voices, with each one she uses (male or female, adult or child) easily recognizable as a separate character. However, as I listen, I am frequently jarred out of the scenes in my mind she makes a mistake in pronunciation. For example, twice in this book, she uses the word dangle instead of dandle when referring to a person bouncing a child on his knee. In this book, and in all the others I've listened to that were narrated by her, she makes several mistakes in the use of common words that any educated person should know how to pronounce. One word she consistently mispronounces throughout the series is "bury" and all its forms. This book has several other mispronunciations, some of them quite startling. I find this annoying as I like to get immersed in a story as it plays out in my imagination. Every time she mispronounces a word, it jars me back to reality of whatever boring task I'm doing while I'm listening. I also use these books as my "bedtime stories" to help me get to sleep. But when she miss pronounces a word, it wakes me up!

I liked the story but hated the narrator. She read the whole story in a near whisper, with an emphasis on the final word of every single sentence. There was a slight lilt on the final word also, giving a terribly grating texture to her voice. She read the various female parts and either a silly girls’s voice or a shrill shrewish voice for the older women. All of the female characters sounded empty headed, not from the written dialogue, but from her terrible reading! She discredited the author’s dialogue for the intelligent character she tried to create.

Wonderful storyline connecting all the characters and the books together. My only complaint is that the narrator gave Lily a German accent, when she didn’t have one previously. While it makes sense that she would have an accent, it should’ve been introduced when Lily was introduced. Also since this book was read by a man, it made the very feminine Lily sound coarse and manly, and distracted from the narrative.

Need a better educated narrator

The narrator, Lara Asmundson, had a voice that was reasonably suitable for the story, but she kept jarring me out of the make-believe world by mispronouncing simple words, like “bury,” which occurred frequently in the story. So I guess I wasn’t surprised when she couldn’t pronounce “redolent.” Someone who wants a job as a narrator, should be better educated and better read. She should at least study the text in advance of recording it to look up any words she has never heard before. But it’s hard for me to understand that someone wouldn’t have heard the word “redolent,” which she pronounced ru•doe•lunt! I really enjoy listening to audiobooks while I do housework, which helps to relieve the boredom. But I hate being shaken out of the scene I’m picturing by mispronunciations.

I couldn't get through the first chapter, but I don't think it was the fault of the writer. The narrator voice was so annoying, childish, and depressing that I could not continue to listen. I'll check out the book without narration and read it for myself

I didn’t know there was a sequel to the Eden, Colorado, series. I found this by accident and I’m very glad I did. These are charming books, with just enough angst of some type to keep it from being sappy. I like the main characters and the values given them by the author. Now I will look at all her other books and enjoy reading them as well.

I like a good romance, but they’re hard to find as most authors follow the same weary constructs. This one didn’t have a bad boy in sight that the heroine was required to reform (and we all know that can’t be done). Nor were there a host of problems besetting the lovers, keeping them apart till the very end. And though the heroine had some reservations, she didn’t put him off for months (or tears) on end, making him feel like a teenage boy pining for her attention. And they didn’t have to dodge bullets or other lethal murderous acts to make it back to each other. What a relief! Well the author did give them a few problems to overcome, it wasn’t between the lovers.

Thank you For such a likable romance. I’ll look for your other book so that I won’t have to be waiting for the next shoe to drop to annoy me with the Artificiallyinserted problems that other authors feel the need do you use.

The female narrator for this book sounds like a 14-year-old girl, with the maturity of a 12-year-old. I did not want to listen to this book with her narrating because I could not sit and believe enough to imagine a romance with the hero of the story. When it got to the sex scenes, I feel like calling 911 to have her rapist arrested!

I am finding this to be a problem more and more and audiobooks, news programs, TV shows, and movies. Is something happening to the vocal cords of American women? Or are they just learning to speak from role models who sound like children

Should be Disclosed as rated for juveniles

This series is the most juvenile offering I have ever read. I suffered through the first one hoping it would get better. It didn’t. I began the second one, stupidly, thinking it might be more mature. It wasn’t. So I deleted it after the first few chapters.

This is not an adult romance! The author makes us suffer through flashbacks of teenage sexual scenes, which should make adults feel like they’re looking at kiddie porn. And the college sexual scenes weren’t much improved. The behaviors and dialogue sounded like 13-year-olds experimenting with sex.

The Author has hercharacters as adults are still behaving like teenagers, and the narrator voices of the women sound like valley girls.

This author needs to switch to writing books for teenagers, not adults.
