This is a fun popcorn thriller. Eat the rich, but also not? I love Rachel Hawkins she is becoming an autobuy author. If you've read all of her books this is in 2nd place for me! There are twists and all the pieces click into place and it's just a really fun entertaining read

I hated the ending I hated the moment u found out what was going on and the middle part dragged and felt repetitive. I'm willing to try this author again the writing was decent enough but I just feel...meh.

I did not want to stop listening to this. I love a good small town well paced mystery and this was definitely that. The only thing that was difficult to deal with was one of the narrators. She was just way way too proper bless her heart once u get used to it it gets better but they really should have picked someone else to perform that part. Otherwise this is a good one that really sucked me in!

I mean...does it get any better than this book?

First thing u need to know is this is DARK. But u won't be able to put this down. What an amazing character driven perfectly paced mystery that unfolds masterfully. Every twist is perfectly executed. If u r from a rural area- goodness this book is so spot on in it's commentary, especially in 2023. It has so much to say and does it in a way that washes over u not forces it on u.
I love the women in this book. The narrator was perfect. I'm not from the Ozarks but this is what as a southern girl I imagine a young Midwest mountain mama to sound like.
So. so. good.

I RARELY leave bad reviews, or long reviews even, but as I said in my title, I have never been more disappointed. The Mr. Mercedes trilogy is what got me back into reading/listening to audiobooks so it'll always be special to me. Why is Holly (Stephen King) so obsessed with Trump?? Dude we get it, you don't like Trump. We get it, COVID sucked and all the people who refused the vaccine are horrible people. We. Get. It. Ok so on top of that King couldn't even make it an interesting story. I. was. SO. BORED. And Holly wasn't even Holly. I can't tell if I hated the narrator or the author's portrayal but whichever it was omg it sucked bc I was SO looking forward to hearing the voice of my favorite literary character! Whyyyyy did he do this? This is an epic fail and I'm so sad about it. I pre-ordered this garbage and can't return it bc I only return things I dnf on principal, but I had so much hope I freaking finished this. So not worth it y'all. If u loved Holly from Mr. Mercedes and The Outsider I'm telling u u HAVE to skip this one and keep Holly pure in your heart and mind. I'm just so upset 😡
