A listen of an old favorite read
Revisado: 04-24-24
I knew I loved these books when they first came out (or at least the first three that I own. I haven’t read the rest yet!) But it’s been a while and I couldn’t remember much about them except for dragon riders.
I freaking love this book! And I had to try and not sob at a certain death near the end of the books while listening with an ear bud during my kid’s gymnastics class.
It’s everything that’s missing from books recently published that simply needed more focus on the dragons. It’s kind of like a grown up version of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. (If you’ve never read them… even if you’re an adult now, they’re a whimsical dragon and magic filled treat that I still love going back to in my late 30’s) as far as I’m concerned, all books need more dragons and this book gives you that in spades!
I enjoyed the narration. I love the main characters. I can’t wait to listen to book two!

Phrodo the Dodo
Revisado: 05-21-23
So, I LOVED book one… well guess what! I also LOVE book 2.
We rejoin Cam & Viv once more, a little time has passed and these two are one their own adventure… and then get sucked back into Saura Corps shenanigans.
Phrodo was my favorite critter, bringing a whole lot of laughs.
When the action amped up, it didn’t stop! There was no way I could put this book down.
The writing is as engaging as ever, bring you right into the world alongside the characters. Definitely a “I could see it like a movie inside my head” kind of read.
The world of Dino-Rift has been a blast to explore. Will I get to go back soon?
As for the audio, the dialogue is very good, but the Dino noises are *chef’s kiss*

I grew up logical. No fairy tales, no romantic notions, no expectations. Life is unfair. I knew this. I bled it. Lived it. But the damage…that was unexpected. Because it was all a lie. Every moment, every story, every ideal I held onto, was a lie.

So. Freaking. Good!
Revisado: 02-07-23
It took a moment to get used to the unique style of putting 3 narrators together in a single scene, but once my brain synced, there was no looking back.
The main narrator, the voice of Lexi, had so much depth and emotion in her performance, not only as the main character but also as every other female in the story. She had a distinct voice for each, capturing each emotion with seeming ease.
The male narrators did a wonderful job as well. The interactions between the three were natural despite the fact they probably have never met.
As for the story, it was my kind of modern fantasy. The stakes are high, the characters are flawed (and good lord, I wanted to strangle a certain man from time to time!), and the narrative moved easily. I cannot wait to get my hands on books two! (And hopefully the audio too!) this is definitely a book I want to add to my physical library ASAP.

A new favorite!
Revisado: 05-23-22
I’d seen this title out and about and thought it looked interesting but didn’t pick it up… until audible held a sale and I decided why the heck not?
I was missing out! This story is going to be right up there with Ella Enchanted as one of my all time favorite books. The story is so unique (I mean, sentient sour dough starter?!) and the world building is magnificent. The characters were so very real, despite their fantasy setting. And a baker saving the city? Yes please!
Definitely recommend this one to all, whether you’re typically a YA reader or not!
As for the narrator in the audio version, she did a fantastic job.

Who dun it
Revisado: 11-28-21
Who dun it indeed!
This is a little bit psychological thriller and a little bit mystery spiced up with a whole bunch of misdirection.
It’s been a while since I’ve read this genre, so I certainly went in with a fresh perspective!
I didn’t try and figure out every little detail but there were some things I had theories on that proved correct but while I had suspicions on the overall, I was never totally sure.
The Perfect Marriage was the perfect escape while folding laundry and all the other bits of daily life I have going on!

Mercy is my Literary BFF for life
Revisado: 11-24-21
Digging into a Mercy Thompson book is like hanging out with an old friend. You know, the kind you can pick right back up with where you left off.
The pack dynamics got a little shift in this one and I was so happy for it. We get a new character that is brilliantly portrayed!
This is my first audio from the series and while I felt the narrator was a bit too mature sounding for Mercy, her overall narration was fantastic.

I had always known he wasn't mine to keep, but that didn't change the way I loved him - quietly, gently, and from afar. As the seasons changed, the corn stalks grew strong, and the grapevines flourished with hope. But none of it mattered, not when the soil at our feet bound us in a century-old rivalry. We'd never even had a chance.

One of my favorite KK Allen books ever!

😍😍😍
Listen, listen, listen, guys, listen.
I’m in love.
This book, guys. I mean. Seriously! It’s sexy, romantic, enthralling, heart pounding, swoon-y. This list of adjectives could go on, but I think you get the picture.
I always recommend Up in the Tree House to people who might not know they love romance, or just really want a good story. A Bridge Between Us delivers this as well.
The fmc reminds me of me as a child. Carefree, wild, a little too daring. I loved that Ms. Allen gives us the ability to see her grow up, to see each step of her life that makes her the woman she becomes.
And the mmc—I had such a clear vision of him in my mind.
Allen’s writing has the ability to draw you in beyond words on a page so that you actually feel like your there experiencing the story through the characters.
As always, there’s a great friend that offers support without judgement. We all need those types of side characters in our lives. Those characters we know have a story all their own.
The villain that’s always out of reach is a constant shadow throughout the narrative. And some I thought were villains turned out not to be. They are all distinctly human.
I could rattle on, but I think you should just read the book instead of more review!
I enjoyed both audio narrators for the most part. My only qualm is the guy’s falsetto for all the woman, but that’s just a me thing!

Kayla: My infatuation with Ezra Johnson started how all obsessions begin - with a simple crush. Over the years I silently soaked up every shy smile and random act of kindness, wrestling them away to a secret place in my heart meant for unrequited love. Because if it wasn't for the fact that I tutor him once a week, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't even know I exist. Then I find his sketchbook. And it changes everything. Ezra: There are two certainties in my life: I've been in love with Kayla Reynolds since I was 14, and I can't have her.

Amazing narration!
Revisado: 11-11-21
I’ve read this book several times and have always loved Ezra and Kayla. They’re the sweetest, and quite possibly steamiest Good Guys couple. The subject matter, as aways is full of depth and heart.
The narrators were fantastic! The male didn’t try for overly high and squeaky female voices and was quite soothing.
The woman blew me away. Her ability to transform her voice is next level. Her male voices actually sound male. If I heard just them, I’d be hard pressed to know it was actually a woman! Absolutely fantastic!

MACKENNA - I have everything I need to live out my dream of being a reclusive songwriter - my guitar, my notebook, and blissful silence. At least, I did until Jimmy moved in next door. He's got bad news written all over him. And last time I got with a bad boy, it ended with me pointing a gun and pulling the trigger. Talk about going out with a bang. Jimmy makes me want things I shouldn't want, which means I have two options: avoid him or piss him off. But no matter what I do he isn't fazed, and I'm quickly realizing there's more to Jimmy than I originally thought.

Great story, great McKenna, terrible Male lead
Revisado: 11-10-21
I love Jimmy and McKenna. Love their story. They’re people I just want to wrap in big old hugs and bake them cookies… if I could bake.
Ms. Schlosser’s writing flows well. Her characters are full of life and engaging.
Now the narration. The voice of McKenna worked for me. She was believable and also pulled off all the other voices.
Jimmy’s voice was good as Jimmy… but awful for pretty much everyone else. (He managed to make Travis sound downright elderly… he’s supposed to be in his early 20’s) his McKenna voice was cringey. He’d be better off focusing on inflection rather than timber and trying to sound various shades of masculine and feminine.
