Another brilliant book

I have no idea how the quality of a nearly 30 year series can remain so high but there's no doubt Mr Connelly is the best in the game. This was truly a masterpiece. only bad thing is the wait for another new book. Highly recommended

When I first walked into Jake and Megan’s immaculate home, I felt totally at ease. Sitting in the crisp white living room, they held hands and talked lovingly about their baby girl, Fern. As the weeks passed, I began to think I’d made a mistake in taking the job. Jake was overly friendly from the start, watching my every move and always offering to drop me home, even though it was out of his way. And Megan seemed to take pleasure in telling me off in front of her husband, blaming me for things I hadn’t done.

I haven’t lived here long. The house is small and a little run-down, but each piece of faded floral wallpaper I peel away feels like unwrapping the second chance I never thought I’d get. I’m finally free to wear what I want, and I don’t flinch when I accidently burn dinner. My new home is warm, and the kids are safe inside. Anywhere would feel idyllic after the nightmare marriage I’ve just escaped.

If you've listened to Brian's podcast you may want to skip the book. it's basically just that. But I love and enjoy the office so much I wanted to own a copy. The performers also kind of throw you off. They are reading for the actors and after introducing them the first time they don't tell you who is talking. I know the show so well that I could figure it out but it may really confuse some people. End of the day I enjoyed it and would recommend it. Or you could listen to the podcast for free. Your choice.
