Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Dennis E. Taylor did it again. Since Asimov himself, no other author has had the massive vision to take full advantage of possibilities of a galactic, multi-century story arch.

Great advice
Revisado: 06-27-24
Brian Grazer's account of the important role of curiosity in life and business is brilliant. Much of success in life and business comes from serendipitous meetings and conversations. The book also covers the importance of communication at a tactile level we do not usually hear. Brian's willingness to be courageously rejected again and again led to many of his best curiosity conversations and films. I am glad he tenaciously persevered to create one of my favorite films--American Gangster.

Lost me
Revisado: 10-12-23
I was really shocked. Liz's book Multipliers is one of the greatest leadership books ever written. This one reads like a manual on how to suck up to your corporate boss by (1) making your bosses priorities your priorities and (2) making your boss look good whenever possible. My priority is serving my customers, and I have to fight to hit deadlines and keep client work on budgets every day. The interests of narcissistic managers and vice presidents (the "diminishers" from Multipliers) are not my priority.

Ah, remember ye olde days when the family would gather around the giant Philco radio and listen to serials? You don’t? We don’t either. But apparently that’s how Cinnamon Bear was born on November 26, 1937, as the star of a holiday season cliff-hanger-style children’s radio series. We hear it was quite the rage!

Historia
Famously, over a four-year period, James Dyson made 5,127 prototypes of the cyclonic vacuum cleaner that would transform the way houses are cleaned around the world. In devoting all his resources to iteratively developing the technology, he risked it all, but out of many failures and setbacks came hard-fought success. In Invention: A Life, Dyson reveals how he came to set up his own company and led it to become one of the most inventive technology companies in the world. It is a compelling and dramatic tale, with many obstacles overcome.

Wonderful, James' narration was excellent
Revisado: 10-17-21
In my opinion, James is the most relatable, and probably the best role model, of all the super-successful tech billionaires. The personal risks he took and his emphasis on repeated trial-and-error failure hit very close to home. Far too many young people never try anything because they are absolutely terrified of others immediately criticizing their initial failures. James' early experience in sales explains alot. Salespeople and entrepreneurs quickly learn: the whole job is coping with repeated failures and imperfection, until you gradually discover what works. I highly recommend this book to entrepreneurs.

Historia
By following the struggle for survival of one small-town hospital, and the patients who walk, or are carried, through its doors, The Hospital takes listeners into the world of the American medical industry in a way no audiobook has done before. Americans are dying sooner, and living in poorer health. Alexander argues that no plan will solve America’s health crisis until the deeper causes of that crisis are addressed.

Slanted, but still great book
Revisado: 04-26-21
I respect this author greatly for the time dedication he put into researching these stories. The money-side of the hospital business is very accurately portrayed. The struggle the remaining rural hospital managers holding their shops together with both hands is real, as well as the constant pressure of health system takeovers and monopolostic, anti-trust behavior.
The financial hardship stories are heart wrenching. I'm a grown man, and I had to stop a half dozen times to cry at unforgiving series of tragedies and bad fortune that befell some of the unlucky poor patients in rural, northwest Ohio. Thank you for helping us understand how bad this has gotten.
The strong political slant was unnecessary, but I understand why he included it. The book is still great without the political jabs.

Eye-opening, I had no idea...
Revisado: 04-06-21
Eye-opening, I had no idea CRISPR gene editing technology had come so far in only 8 years. The Cas-13 SHERLOCK diagnostic testing sounds incredible. I'd pay an extra $200 at a PCP office visit for a rapid virus test. I'm so sick of primary care telling me they have no idea if I have a virus or bacterial infection. Test me for God's sake!

Frederik Pohl was on a streak when this Hugo Award-finalist novel was published in 1980. Now back in print after an absence of nearly a decade, this unique science fiction novel is as fresh and entertaining as ever. The story begins when the hero of Gateway finances an expedition to a distant alien spaceship that may end famine forever. On the ship, the explorers find a human boy, and evidence that reveals a powerful alien civilization is thriving on a transport ship headed right for Earth....

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.
