Love the characters just not a fan of the writing style
Revisado: 12-03-24
I am enough books into this series pretty much figure out the author's style and I'm not a fan. they're too long and books shouldn't be too long but that tells you for me as the listener I get bored because there's too much filler It's over descriptive it goes into tangents it wastes time it builds on things that are unnecessary It doesn't flow it doesn't have a good rhythm.
I find myself skipping parts, I find myself skipping whole chapters, and I don't feel I miss anything of the book.
really do enjoy the three Singleton assets and I hope they do more together. But I find incredibly stupid that there's a continuing antagonist in their handler That's just dumb, that doesn't help the story at all .
everyone is different Some might love it It was a good book I would recommend it I found parts of a boring I found parts of it useless I found the story drug out longer than it should and I just don't understand the dynamic between the protagonists and their handler that the author determine to make part of the story.
I don't think these books will change but I do enjoy the series

Historia
Fresh off his first mission back with the CIA, Court Gentry secures what seems like a cut-and-dried contract job: A group of expats in Paris hires him to kidnap the mistress of Syrian dictator Ahmed Azzam to get intel that could destabilize Azzam's regime. Court delivers Bianca Medina to the rebels, but his job doesn't end there. She soon reveals that she has given birth to a son, the only heir to Azzam's rule - and a potent threat to the Syrian president's powerful wife. Now, to get Bianca's cooperation, Court must bring her son out of Syria alive.

overall very good but just too long.
Revisado: 11-21-24
I like it better than the previous book I like that it was centered in France and Syria and the subject matter. it was just too doggone long. I was in the 40s and then I went and looked and saw I was barely halfway through so I had to skip 20 chapters because I just found them filler it wasn't really carrying the flow.
I found the stuff when Court went Syria and it was just about the girl, the frenchman, and the switzman unfulfilling relatively stagnant and relatively boring it just didn't flow
but jumping 20 chapters ahead when Court talked to Matt that's where I picked it up and it was really good the end was great that 20 chapters in the middle I didn't need
I'm finding that as a theme with these books the author over rights it's too long and it loses momentum but if you can endure 80 some chapters go for it but you can skip 25 right around the 40s pick it up early 60s and you will thoroughly enjoy it

Historia
After five years on the run, Court Gentry is back on the inside at the CIA. But his first mission makes him wish he had stayed on the outs when a pair of Chinese agents try to take him down in Hong Kong. Normally the Chinese prefer to stay eyes-only on foreign agents. So why are they on such high alert? Court's high stakes hunt for answers takes him across Southeast Asia and leads to his old friend, Donald Fitzroy, who is being held hostage by the Chinese.

Only got interesting in the last third of the book
Revisado: 11-16-24
the book subject matter wasn't interesting until we got two-thirds of the way in. It's only because that anything in Southeast Asia I don't understand the language or the names or the description of the scenery because I've never been there It's not like Europe it's not like the West so I wasn't very interested from the beginning
2/3 of the way in it got really good and that's why I got four stars I did enjoy it The end did make it worthwhile.
The gray man's handler is a stupid character and serves no purpose She is a complete turn off and unlikable That's not where I wanted to go .
also the fact that the CIA will just kill him every time but then want him to work for them but then stab him in the back and then lie to him The author is very formulatic and it's just bad writing It really is
This isn't Jack reacher if that's what he's trying to write or other loan operatives that their name escape me The books are mid at best but I do enjoy them to a point I'm six seven books in and I only liked half of them I didn't even finish two of them they were so bad This one was okay enjoyable I do recommend it

Best rejease since Book 1
Revisado: 11-08-24
My biggest problem with this author, it's his penchant of silliness in the story. How can super spy never hold his weapon? How can super warrior always get hurt? The book also probably in my opinion was 10 chapters too long I mean my goodness almost 80 chapters. thought the flow was good it got dumb once or twice I only skipped one part of one chapter because I thought it was slowing down the action.
overall best book since the first one I couldn't complete book three it was so bad or book for but this one I recommend

One of the dumbest books I've ever listened to
Revisado: 10-29-24
What a total let down. The book starts with one of the main characters so unlikable and ridiculous It was automatically a turn off. Made worse by the fact it got boring and predictable. How The protagonist who's supposed to be the world's baddest badass seems to get hurt at every step is ridiculous.. The plot twist, the betrayal, making him an addict. One of the dumbest books ever thoroughly disappointed and I bought two more

can't give it five stars because of one common flaw
Revisado: 10-23-24
Great story. wonderful action, funny, unexpected twists and turns. I highly recommend it. The reason I only can give it four is from production standpoint I could hear the different takes in the recording and I've never heard that from an audiobook.
as far as the story I cannot stand that formula that America does or modern journalists do where the protagonist suffers inhumane turmoil and injury and everything goes wrong. It's not believable and I know we're supposed to suspend our disbelief when we listen or read or watch anything fiction but it comes to the point where it's like oh come on This is getting silly and that's where parts of this book got where one more thing happened to the protagonist and it's like oh really come on and it diminishes the enjoyment I just wish the author didn't do that and I sure hope book two doesn't have that same formula
That's just my opinion It is a five-star book for most people I'm sure of it I do highly recommend it I just wish they wouldn't follow that the only superhuman person out there is the protagonist because he's not superhuman he's just a man I wish the writing would reflect that it could have been so much better

the worst for in the series it has turned me off to it
Revisado: 08-17-24
book 9 it's a zero star it was utterly stupid serve no point in progressing the series David supercomputer broke I struggled to get through it because it was just dumb.
book 10 half a star they're too much babble and then when you get to the good part it's over in a chapter
book 11 one star best thing about it was Jimmy Malloy. I thought the whole scorpion story was dumb and not very well thought out
Buck 12 half a star the tangents that the author's going on now serve no purpose other than just to make the story longer did not enjoy this whole series at all do not recommend

Revisado: 07-14-24
I think this book was the basis for the TV show person of interest. I don't know how well of cereal book it will be cuz it's a bunch of short stories not a lot of detail not a lot of character development but it was enjoyable I bought the first four in a pack I'm going to see what the second one's like but it was okay

50 some chapters and I'm still trying to figure out the point of the book
Revisado: 07-12-24
terrible from start to finish I will not finish the other three It was such a horrible plot boring beyond boring I don't know how this book got five or 4.5 stars let alone the series I will not waste another minute on another one of these books they were terrible
The narrator was uninspiring The story was flat and convoluted and then the ending is just ridiculous I'm sure there's a series here of building up to get to the conclusion that should happen but I won't invest the time because I didn't enjoy it the first book enough to sit through the other three
