Historia
The fateful quarter-century leading up to World War I was a time when the world of privilege still existed in Olympian luxury and the world of protest was heaving in its pain, its power, and its hate. The age was the climax of a century of the most accelerated rate of change in history, a cataclysmic shaping of destiny.

Problematic and full of wildly wrongfull statements
Revisado: 05-07-25
When the author proposes that some lordly toff was the brightest political mind of the era. It became clear, that this book has taken the insane drivel the ruling classes produced, to defend their owning of other peoples lives and prospects. At face value.
It also makes very little sense to focus only on the extremely few people in these ruling classes.
Yes there where only lords at the top of politics at the time. But its very clear this was only because of inertia. And that these people had allready stopped being (if they really ever where) the driving factors of the times.
The only reason this book could ever exist is a sad indication of how easily misslead people are with some shiny baubles, tiltles and a arrogant act of domination.
I hate this book and the mindset that could lead to it being published.
It is also worthless as a historybook. Its all just anecdotes and assumptions.
Like the lord balfour who the author claimed was the political mind of the age. The only explanation was a anecdote that some other english lord preferred the english book to german books on the subject. That is it. I rather think the zenophobia of this era is quite worthless in demonstrating the quality of authorship...

Historia
On the walls of Jönköping, the men of the north made their stand and held the Crusade at bay, paying the price in blood and the death of kinsmen. The Norse jarls, shaken and bloodied, must rally around their wounded and weakened king or choose an alternative path to cling to power. As the icy grip of winter falls and the snow, mud, and blood bind the oath-sworn enemies together in a lethal contest, hopes of glory are cast aside in the desperate fight for survival. Two armies marched into the deep woods in winter. Only the Norns know who will emerge from the cruel embrace of the Frostforge.

This series has gone of the rails
Revisado: 04-27-25
The most annoying thing in this book is probably how the author pretends to make one character able to checkmate everyone around him with his words. While it is blaringly obvious that no such thing has happened and the supposed checkmated people have many options open to them, the author ignores them to be able to keep the story stumbling along.
Every single thing going perfectly for one side (the side we are constantly shown to be badly and carelessly led) while constantly going badly for the other side, the side that we time and time again are shown to have almost unrealistically good leaders.
At this point in the series the author writes like this : after forty days of constant sun, the scorched earth was so boggy and full of mud that there was no hope of traversing it...

The author thinks there is no sand in norway...
Revisado: 04-26-25
Kinda ok story but the author is constantly out on thin limbs like saying norwegians have never seen such a thing as a sandy beach at home. In order to make his narrative work. He constantly simply makes stuff up. When he has written himself into yet another hole. I was less and less invested in the story after every book. In the start they where doing interresting stuff but after a while the story has become not much more than countless similar small skirmishes that all play out the same. And the only way the writer seems to know how to put stakes into the tale. Is to come up with increasingly ludicrous reasons for why our heroes need to go into battle with so few people.

Revisado: 04-19-25
Seems a section in the middle of the book is gone. Also this book is way way poorer than the first in the series. At this point the story has become an account of places they travel to kill some guards in the night and then loose whatever they gain to treachary or no planning XD but again, parts are missing!

Rascist garbage
Revisado: 03-09-25
This book is simply awfull, if you imagine a 1000 terrible boyhood powerfantasies. Destill them into the worst 50. That is the personality of the main character. The brother is somehow even worse.
The people in this book say and do things that are simply impossible.
Its painfully misoginystic even for a book written so long ago about so long ago. And rascist too ofcourse...
There is something in the world that this author hates, and this is his attack on it. It could be the readers.

Revisado: 02-21-25
This book is badly written, like a highschool class project. Its inconsistent and clunky.
The protagonist is very unlikable and as usual in this type of book the author is weird and horny about women.

Historia
In Gotham, Edwin G. Burrows and Mike Wallace have produced a monumental work of history, one that ranges from the Indian tribes that settled in and around the island of Manna-hata, to the consolidation of the five boroughs into Greater New York in 1898. It is an epic narrative, a story as vast and as varied as the city it chronicles, and it underscores that the history of New York is the story of our nation. The events and people who crowd this audiobook guarantee that this is no mere local history. It is in fact a portrait of the heart and soul of America....

Horrible
Revisado: 04-14-24
This book seems to almost revel in the pointless destruction and violence the americans release on innocent people.
Multiple times throughout the book the author will recount some instance of "villanious behaviour" from the somalis.
While in the next second he will explain how it was perfectly reasonable to mow down a crowd of onlookers with a minigun. Because someone in the vicinity of said crowd had fired a AK in the soldiers direction.
This book is dispicable. And also a realistic look into the deranged minds of american military hawks

It was on the Silk Roads that East and West first encountered each other through trade and conquest, leading to the spread of ideas, cultures, and religions. From the rise and fall of empires to the spread of Buddhism and the advent of Christianity and Islam, right up to the great wars of the 20th century - this book shows how the fate of the West has always been inextricably linked to the East.

-Its better to be a nazi jugend than a english person
-Small democratic nations had themselves to blame for being invaded by nazi germany
-Its better to be a murderer than a gay person
