Historia
I'm a shifter with a checkered past and sticky fingers. I like my new life. I've got good friends, cheap booze, and weekly karaoke. Sure, I live in an apartment with more deadbolts than functioning windows. And yeah, I earn just enough tips as a mediocre bartender to buy name brand ramen noodles. But I can be as flamboyant and fun as I want—as long as I keep my hands clean. When a mysterious stranger strolls into my bar with tales of a magical dagger so rare it's guaranteed to start a bidding war, that old itch is back. One last heist—for old times sake. At least, that's what I tell myself.

A fun and quick read!
Revisado: 09-10-24
Relic Hunter by L.A. McBride. Riley Cruz series. If you’re looking for a fast paced and exciting urban fantasy, this might be for you. Demons, shifters, vampires, and witches. Ancient artifacts. Heists. Quirky, smart, and depends on no one FMC. A sprinkle of romance. Riley is officially an adult and it’s time she steps up her game. Overall a fun and quick read.
I was provided with a review copy of the audiobook and this is my honest opinion. I gave this book 3.5 stars. (If I am unable to leave partial stars, I will always round up.)
I am going to be continuing the series. I also plan to check out Kali James, the author’s previous series.
Thank you L.A. McBride!

Historia
The shadow magic has always whispered to Wren. The same dark power that once ravaged her home kingdom of Asteroth. So she must keep her magic hidden, only using it to help people in need in the remote border village she calls home. Discovery of her gifts would mean death. Noble knight Finn has sworn to serve his new home, Asteroth, by hunting down those who use shadow magic. He has never forgiven his father, ruler of enemy kingdom Ilanthus, for his terrible cruelty.

Well paced story with a unique magic system!
Revisado: 09-06-24
This was my first ever arc, and it was via audiobook. As someone who primarily consumes books via audio, I must say, narration was excellent. Helen Keeley really brought the characters to life. If you like a well paced story and a unique magic system this may be for you! A fantasy with romance and spice with mystery vibes. Great world building with glossary and chapter epigraphs. Warring kingdoms, light vs dark, hidden identity, shadow mommy that ends on a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to book 2. Thank you NetGalley, Second Sky, and Jessica Thorne!
