Historia
Jared Kushner was one of the most consequential presidential advisers in modern history. For the first time, he recounts what happened behind closed doors during the Trump presidency. Few White House advisors have had such an expansive portfolio or constant access to the president. From his office next to Trump, senior adviser Jared Kushner operated quietly behind the scenes, preferring to leave the turf wars and television sparring to others.

Highly Respect Kushner and Trump, Kushner is modern Kissinger
Revisado: 08-27-23
Great book.
Highly recommend. Humanizes both Kushner and Trump. Kushner is this generation’s Kissinger. I read this book to learn about Kushner as a his and his family story is epic.
I walked away with business and negotiation tactics that have helped my career and advanced me in promotion.

Social psychologist Peter T. Coleman explores how conflict resolution and complexity science provide guidance for dealing with seemingly intractable political differences. Deploying the concept of attractors in dynamical systems, he explains why we are stuck in this rut as well as the unexpected ways that deeply rooted oppositions can and do change.

Should be given to every Politician (needs attachment)
Revisado: 01-19-22
This was a great book and I really enjoyed it. I will take some of the lessons I learned from here throughout my life to help minimize the polarization in my community and family going forward.
At first I thought P. Coleman would be just another smug liberal - he surprised me and was unbiased, reflective I’m himself and was rational book. Bravo.
The most glaring negative of this audiobook is that there is no accompanying PDF and there are a lot of references to tables and charts that you cannot see. Please fix this Peter Coleman and Audible if you truly want an effective tool as well as ethical product (Not providing a reference and making the references in a book makes it very difficult to understand at times). Hence the three stars for performance (the voice/narration was great and not reflective of the three stars - again give an accompanying pdf to understand.
In sum, give this book to every partisan politician (most of them). I myself will purchase a copy or two and send to my local representatives.

Historia
On a small two-lane bridge in a rural county that loathes the federal government, the US Army uses lethal force to end a standoff with hard-right anti-government patriots. Inside an ordinary diner, a disaffected young man with a handgun takes aim at the American president stepping in for an impromptu photo-op, and a bullet splits the hyper-partisan country into violently opposed mourners and revelers.

American Response to Canadian’s predictions
Revisado: 01-10-22
This is written by a Canadian who asserts that because of his position as a Canadian, outside looking in to America, he is taking the information and painting a picture, to which I would say is a potentially likely future, of America. While, there are disappointments in this book due to bias I do recommend this book overall.
It is noted that throughout the book he provides 4 chapters on catalysts for the devolution of the American state starting with:
(1) a battle between state and federal authorities mimicking the standoffs of the past in America while interviewing military personnel from America’s Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Great insights there.
(2) presidential political assassination caused by the lost individuals of todays society to whom get wrapped up and are easily convinced that violence is the answer despite their own failure to take personnel responsibility. Here’s a surgeons here take on a typical non-American viewpoint on guns I will highlight as a disappointment because he lost his objectivity a bit here.
(3) climate change which could cause greater plagues/ pandemics, Where he highlights a story of the average American in New York City and how a super storm like hurricane Sandy could occur again
(4) massive violence after the devolution of the state prior to the breakup be it peaceful or not. Again it is here where the author points directly to America’s republican party and the right wing for the direct causes despite our past year of left-wing violence as well.
I gave this book 3 stars overall due to the following reasons: (1) The first being the claim to objectivity and his assertion that he is in a moderate position on a political spectrum yet throughout the book it is obvious he leans to the left. (2) secondly it is from that lack of objectivity that he extrapolates faulty foundations of assertions I think the book would have been much better had he tried to interview an American Republican or try to interview a Democrat in each dispatch/chapter prior to publication to check his own bias.
While I know that his lack of objectivity is only a matter of his own humanity and blind spots (maybe the lack of a proper editor to make this a great book), I celebrate this book from the perspective as fascinating and an eye-opening story (hence the 5 stars for story).
I would highly recommend this book to any American as a warning of what could come if the polarized environment continues; however, I would note as well that this book doesn’t provide unique solutions.
The author does provide left-wing and Democrat talking points as truths/solutions to which the author may feel he is being smart sharing but they would only be used to ferret out that his interests are counter to the other half of Americans.
I quote the final Chapter as a great final quote from this book:
“The hope for America is Americans”

Historia
Emigration of people from Sicily often overshadows the importance of the people who immigrated to the island through the centuries. These have included several who became Sicily's rulers, along with Jews, Ligurians, and Albanians. Greeks, Romans, Vandals, Goths, Byzantines, Muslims, Normans, Hohenstaufens, Spaniards, Bourbons, the Savoy Kingdom of Italy and the modern era have all held sway, and left lasting influences on the island's culture and architecture.

Amazing account/history of Sicily
Revisado: 01-05-22
Phenomenal diversity account of a culture often times misjudged and overlooked.
3000 years of history was a great listen to anyone interest in learning the WHY Sicily was know as the jewel of the Mediterranean with its fertile soils and rich deposits.
I feel there could be deep dives in each time period covered - so much occurred on this little island it was a great listen.

Intelligence is usually seen as the ability to think and learn, but in a rapidly changing world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn. In our daily lives, too many of us favor the comfort of conviction over the discomfort of doubt. We listen to opinions that make us feel good, instead of ideas that make us think hard. We see disagreement as a threat to our egos, rather than an opportunity to learn.

Smug Ivy-league psychologist writes a book
Revisado: 05-30-21
All this author’s favorites are left leaning politicians (by his own admission) - he attempts to appear independent yet his bias is evident throughout the book. Disappointing for a “logic bully” as he refers to himself - a smug ivy-league liberal mentality is persistent throughout the book.
There are great nuggets of truth and tactics in this book for opening discussions in a polarized time however these are not original ideas and maybe tactics to be aware from a defensive position.
My biggest take aways were on the motivational interviewing (his vaccine whisper chapter again proves his bias on a complex issue), his Michelle Obama cites were downright silly and pandering, and his self-absorbed professor examples of how he “helps” his students are sophomoric.
What is more disappointing is how he cites that he gets big consulting gigs and disparages his clients - I’d be careful to hire this guy if I was a business.
Overall I’m glad I listened to this book from the perspective of keeping an open mind (whole premise of the book be open-minded enough to be flexible) and the take aways on persuasion and motivational interviewing - if your reading this just google those terms and save your credit/money.
Maybe the author should take his own advice and think again before harboring so much bias.

Centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones, House Targaryen - the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria - took up residence on Dragonstone. Fire & Blood begins their tale with the legendary Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold that iconic seat, all the way up to the civil war that nearly tore their dynasty apart.

Great detail, lack of focus and lacks background of most famous Targaryns
Revisado: 05-16-19
GRRM is a great writer and story teller. No question there but this book lacked the delivery of some nice background or content of the most famous Targaryns up to the “Mad King” - would have liked more focused content on the Targaryns - as usually GRRM deviates and starts talking about a tangential non-Targaryn character I just fast forwarded through. Kinda disappointing but nice background on that dynasty but incomplete if it was going for a chronicle/historical rather story.
One cool tangential story was about a random fire witch with a dragon that just disappears - made me think of Melissandra, was cool to hear that before the season 8 E3 and then watch the Long Night episode to see melissandras powers - I bet there is a link there, but who knows.
Average product overall, no issues with performance by orator - good job there.
