a side note
Revisado: 06-24-22
loving the series so far but Id like to point out that there was no definitive proof awlaki had relations with prostitutes as the host suggest, the fbi attempted to set him up with prostitutes during traffic stops in order to get dirt on him this is laid out in detail in Jeremy Scahills well researched "dirty wars."

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

misrepresentation of the Quran
Revisado: 06-08-22
the author in chapter seven presents a short analysis of the Quran saying the Quran commands to "kill apostates" and is especially othering of Jews although the Quranic Arabic does not even contain a word for "apostate" and is full of praise (as well as criticism) of (broadly) the Jewish tradition as well as naming them as among the mumin (believers). The author clearly is commenting outside of his field in this instance. That's my two cents. Rest of the book is fairly decent and entertaining.
I also note the ratio of negative mentions of Islam in relation to other traditions throughout the work.

Historia
In this book, Mustafa Akyol, senior fellow at the Cato Institute and opinion writer for The New York Times, both diagnoses “the crisis of Islam” in the modern world and offers a way forward. Diving deep into Islamic theology, and also sharing lessons from his own life story, he reveals how Muslims lost the universalism that made them a great civilization in their earlier centuries.
