Historia
Elizabeth Smith was good at taking charge. Fixing what she believed was wrong with the world. And then she met a lazy knight with no desire to better himself. Before the rakes of the regency period, there was Robert Thornton, Lord Highworth. Content to spend his days drinking, wenching, and hunting, Robert cared not what happened in the world around him. Let his brothers see to war and fighting. Perhaps if he drank enough he could forget the faces of the dead. When Robert offers the strange lass up as the wager, Elizabeth vows to hate him forever.

Not a great read !
Revisado: 10-08-24
I have enjoyed others in this series, but this particular one was not that great. They hate each other one day and then just decide the next day that they love each other with no progression from one to the other. It just feels forced and unrealistic. And while the narrator is not bad, it would be better if a man could read the men’s parts as she doesn’t have great men’s voices.

Wrong narrator for the content!
Revisado: 03-06-24
This is a book I have loved, since I was a teenager and have read numerous times over the years. I was so excited when I saw it in audible and decided to purchase that version. The story is as good as always, but the narrator is completely wrong for this content, These are young lovers and it sounds like it’s being read by a very much older woman. Additionally cringe when she tries to do the men’s voices. As excited as I was to find it I am just as disappointed trying to listen to the narrator!

Good, but not as much so as the first two books
Revisado: 01-04-21
The story was enjoyable, although it did not keep me intrigued or as interested as the first two books of the series. I was disappointed that the narrator had been charged for this book as well. Although Ms. Maarleveld’s voice is nice to listen to. She just did not manage the other voices, like Matthew’s as well as the previous narrator. A good read, but not in league with the two previous books.

Enjoyed the story but disliked the change in narrator
Revisado: 07-10-20
I loved the first two books and the narrator. She really got into the story & made you feel the emotions. I was very disappointed that they changed narrators for this book, even though I still enjoyed the story. I seriously thought about buying the kindle version & reading it myself, but got through it.

Great Story, Awful Narrator
Revisado: 07-06-19
I read this book once before and loved it, so decided to listen to it on audible when I saw it in Audible Escapes, however, a couple of chapters in I gave up and I could not deal with the narrator's voice. This is a story about a powerful English knight but the man's voice was almost a whisper, soft and wispy. It was also just straight out irritating. The first novel in this series, and many others by Kathryn Le Veque, were narrated by Brad Wills. They should have stuck with him as a narrator, or at least found someone who was not so weak sounding.

Historia
NYPD Detective Alec MacAidan has always been good with weird. After all, his life has been a string of the unexplainable. But when an injured man gives him cryptic clues, then turns to dust in front of him, Alec's view on weird is changed forever. Cronin, a vampire Elder, has spent the last 1,000 years waiting for Alec. He'd been told his fated one would be a man wielding a shield, but he didn't expect him to be human, and he certainly didn't expect that shield to be a police badge.

Gay Vampire
Revisado: 06-21-18
I love Vampires, Werewolves & all types of stories about mystical creatures so I jumped on this book when I saw it, however I got quite a surprise. The sex scenes are steamy, which is fine, but the Vampire in this series is gay, which I did not expect. I try not to judge other’s life choices, as that’s not my place, but for me, that was a big turn off. The story itself is interesting and fun to listen to & I would love to continue the series, however I won’t due to the type of sex scenes. I wasn’t overly crazy about the narrators voice either, but got used to it by the end and it wouldn’t stop me continuing the series. If you like an interesting Vampire story & don’t mind steamy gay sex, this could be the book for you.

Great story, stiff reading!
Revisado: 10-05-17
I love Nora Roberts books and this is as beautiful and moving as all the others I've read or listened to, however, while Patricia Daniels has a very nice and clear voice and I loved the Irish accents, when reading in her own voice the reading seemed stilted and stiff. It's not so bad as to ruin the story however.
