Historia
From the Black Death to smallpox and the Hong Kong flu, seven of the 10 worst plagues in history originated in China. But the COVID-19 pandemic was something entirely new: a genetically engineered pathogen that was deliberately released upon the world for the geopolitical profit of a Communist government. In The Politically Incorrect Guide® to Pandemics, Steven Mosher, a leading authority on China, devastates politically correct narratives about the COVID-19 pandemic and the deadliest plagues in history.

Historia
The "isle of poets and scholars" has known almost constant warfare for centuries. In 1920, it was divided into North and South; yet this purely political solution left a religious and cultural schism intact. This presentation follows Ireland's tragic course from St. Patrick to Britain's imposition of direct rule in 1974.

That’s Irish for well done. Very well researched;arranged chronologically. Reader is easy to listen to and the reading of lengthy quotes by character readers works well. Succinct, accurate, comprehensive, and enjoyable.

Historia
Part human comedy and part mystery, Lies the Mushroom Pickers Told is an enthralling, masterful story about what holds a village together and what keeps people apart. When journalist Patrick Bracken returns to Gohen, the Irish village where he was born, he knows the eyes of the townspeople are on him. He has come home to investigate two deaths that happened decades earlier when he was a child, deaths that were ruled accidental.

To follow the plot you have to focus hard, since the story is told sporadically. There’s a vast cast of brilliantly-drawn characters along the way, the portrayal of whom creates an unforgettable glimpse of rural Ireland in 1951. Nicely read by a narrator with a mild Irish lilt.

Organized in logical, chronological manner, with focus on different topics as needed. Altogether, it gives a really comprehensive overview of a very important but often overlooked era. Also a very enjoyable narrator -- no-nonsense lecturer, but his occasional chuckles are so much fun! And it's WONDERFUL to have the accompanying text!!! Wish more Great Courses on Audible came with the accompanying text for future reference!!!

Historia
Welcome to the era of true marriages of convenience. Discover the reality of trading someone’s hand in marriage, such as an American heiress, in exchange for money, power, or political clout through compelling history lectures. Showcased in novels such as Edith Wharton’s The Age of Innocence and in present day pop culture through works like Downtown Abbey, the Gilded Age was an era of contradictions. Life on both sides of the Atlantic was grimy and glamorous, prosperous and impoverished, traditional and revolutionary.

It's not a book, it's an opinionated podcast!
Revisado: 12-18-21
I was expecting to "read" the story. But the author/reader's snide tone of voice, and her snide comments about her subjects because of their fathers' wealth were a real barrier to actually getting to the story. This is supposed to be a book about an interesting historical phenomenon -- why should she showcase her opinions instead? Whatever happened to objectivity?
