Historia
Kendra Michaels is reluctant to help the FBI with the most recent case they've brought to her...until she hears the details: The body was found just blocks away from Kendra's condo. The man was carrying an envelope with Kendra's name on it, and inside was an SD card with what appears to be an innocuous video of a wedding reception. And just one week before the attempted delivery of this mysterious video, the groom in the video was murdered.

Good storyline let down by obvious plot twists
Revisado: 10-19-21
A good storyline that was let down by very predictable plot twists.
Would have been so much better if it actually held a few surprises.

Historia
Two years ago, Dr. Gina Brady broke Thomas Prescott’s heart, but now her panic-stricken satellite phone call starts it beating again with a fury. Thugs kidnapped the good doctor from the remote jungle village where she was working, and now the retired homicide detective’s expert skills are desperately needed to save her. Led by a colorful, but perhaps untrustworthy local guide, Prescott journeys deep into the Bolivian Amazon, plunging into a world where the only thing more dangerous than the gun-toting drug traffickers and the ruthless tribesmen, is the jungle itself.

Unlikeable characters and lazy writing
Revisado: 01-11-19
This was my first (and last) sampling of a Preston/Child book.
The characters are completely unlikeable and unrelatable. The premise of the story is good but the story telling is lazy and in part unbelievable. For example a hit man/sniper dialling in the scope of his rifle which is supported by a bi-pod laying on the ground suddenly is able to shoot a circling hawk in the air? it's just I'm possible for some lying prone with their gun resting on the ground to shoot something airborne.
That is only part of the problem with the writing, which is like a thesaurus vomited on the page.
I found this book to be a complete waste of time.

Historia
In the dead of winter, handwriting expert Claudia Rose journeys to Maine to retrieve a manuscript about convicted female serial killer, Roxanne Becker. The manuscript, written by Professor Madeleine Maynard, who was, herself, brutally murdered, exposes a shocking secret: explosive research about a group of mentally unstable grad students selected for a special project and dubbed “Maynard’s Maniacs”. Was Madeleine conducting research that was at best, unprofessional - and at worst, downright harmful and potentially dangerous? Could that unorthodox research have turned deadly?

A great thriller with a twist
Revisado: 12-13-18
I was a little hesitant about a book with a handwriting expert as a protagonist. But that concern was soon a distant memory. The story is great and it moves along at a great pace.
I found myself listening for longer than I'd planned because I was so immersed in the story.

Historia
Fresh off his first mission back with the CIA, Court Gentry secures what seems like a cut-and-dried contract job: A group of expats in Paris hires him to kidnap the mistress of Syrian dictator Ahmed Azzam to get intel that could destabilize Azzam's regime. Court delivers Bianca Medina to the rebels, but his job doesn't end there. She soon reveals that she has given birth to a son, the only heir to Azzam's rule - and a potent threat to the Syrian president's powerful wife. Now, to get Bianca's cooperation, Court must bring her son out of Syria alive.

Historia
In the lobby of a Wall Street investment firm, one man is dead and another seriously injured. The man accused of the crime is now a fugitive. When Special Agent Sean Kruger is personally ordered to New York City to find the fugitive, Kruger questions the reason. Told to shut up and do his job, he starts looking into the case. What he finds is troubling. Eyewitness accounts seem contrived with little variance between individual testimonies. The more he hears, the more he feels someone is manipulating the story.

A Great Addition To The Crime Genre
Revisado: 12-02-17
J C Field’s FBI Agent Sean Kruger is a welcome addition to the crime genre.
The storyline rocks along at a cracking pace. From New York to the mid west of America the pace never lets up.
Mixing action with Kruger’s personal life rounds out the characters making them more human.
If you like Faye Kellerman’s work you are sure to enjoy this series.
Paul McSorely does a brilliant job bringing the characters to life.
This book has me looking forward to more of Kruger’s adventures.

A Ripping Detective Yarn
Revisado: 11-21-17
I’ve got to say, I love a good detective story and that is just what I found with ‘The Assassin’s Trail’ by J C Fields.
This instalment of the Sean Kruger series has inspired me to check out more of Mr Fields works. I’m glad to be able to add a new face to my list of go to authors.
This book is fast paced and the story line holds you right to the very end. The main character often times reminded me of Faye Kellerman’s Detective Peter Decker with the interweaving of Sean’s personal family life into the storyline.
I highly recommend that you check out this book. You will be glad you did.

Historia
Andy Carpenter isn't sure what to think when he gets a mysterious phone call from a good friend, policeman Pete Stanton, asking him to drop everything, drive to an unfamiliar address, and bring his girlfriend, Laurie Collins. He certainly isn't expecting to show up at a crime scene. But that's exactly where he arrives - at the house where Pete has just discovered the body of ex-convict Danny Balfour. Upstairs are Danny's now orphaned four-year-old son and basset hound. And that, Andy discovers, is why he and Laurie were called to the scene - Pete wants them to take care of the boy and the dog so they won't get thrown into the "system". This is already asking a lot, but soon Pete needs another big favor from Andy. Pete himself has come under suspicion for Danny's murder, and he needs defense attorney Andy to represent him - and to find out what really happened in Danny's house that day!

Historia
Sonny Lofthus is a strangely charismatic and complacent young man. Sonny’s been in prison for a dozen years, nearly half his life. The inmates who seek out his uncanny abilities to soothe leave his cell feeling absolved. They don’t know or care that Sonny has a serious heroin habit - or where or how he gets his uninterrupted supply of the drug. Or that he’s serving time for other peoples’ crimes. Sonny took the first steps toward addiction when his father took his own life rather than face exposure as a corrupt cop. Now Sonny is the seemingly malleable center of a whole infrastructure of corruption....
