Historia
The landscape of the British Isles is filled with history, much of which we miss as it flashes past the car window. Do we even realise that we're following the same path as the Tolpuddle Martyrs, or that we're driving past the exact spot where King Harold was killed, shot through the eye with an arrow? As a lover of both history and the British countryside, Charlie Connelly decided to rectify this, and set out on a series of walks that recreate famous historical journeys. En route he retells the story of the original trip while discovering who and what now inhabit these iconic routes.

A Witty Adventure Through the Past
Revisado: 01-30-23
This book was exactly what I was looking for: UK-based walking anecdotes. Not only was Charlie's journey entertaining to listen to but I learned about some key and interesting snippets of history along the way. I definitely feel like lacing up and going on a journey now.

Losing its way?
Revisado: 01-14-22
I really enjoyed the first three books but felt like this one lost its pace. I think it spends too much time on relationships and there isn't much monster fighting. I found Earth's adoption of magic somewhat unimaginative (tactical units, guns, faceless corporations). Perhaps it's setting the scene for radical changes in the sequel. I also found the applications of the magic available to Jason starting to move from very convenient to bordering ridiculous. There's a solution for everything and I've stopped wondering how people will get out of situations because there's always a magic hack. That said, there's plenty of entertainment to be found if you adore the series/genre.
