In the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father, a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, appears in Richard Cypher's forest sanctuary seeking help...and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence. Awesome book, decent performance... I just wish...
Revisado: 08-06-18
My only complaint is how the name Kahlan is pronounced. In the audio it's pronounced Kay-len when I always pronounced it Kah-len. Other than that... it's a good reading of a great book. If you're into fantasy this is a series I recommend highly. It's a rich world with well developed characters.
This is one that I always recommend. In the series itself there are a few stinker books (which I think is always expected in a series this long) but over all it's a series I have always and will always enjoy.

Historia
Han Solo should be basking in his moment of glory. After all, the cocky smuggler and captain of the Millennium Falcon just played a key role in the daring raid that destroyed the Death Star and landed the first serious blow to the Empire in its war against the Rebel Alliance. But after losing the reward his heroics earned him, Han's got nothing to celebrate. Especially since he's deep in debt to the ruthless crime lord Jabba the Hutt. There's a bounty on Han's head - and if he can't cough up the credits, he'll surely pay with his hide. The only thing that can save him is a king's ransom. Or maybe a gangster's fortune?

Once is not enough!
Revisado: 08-06-18
Most of the Star Wars books that I have read have had Han and Chewie as secondary support characters. Due to this I was semi skeptical when I got this book even though I love, love, love Timothy Zahn and Marc Thompson. I have zero regrets with this book. To say that I loved it would be an understatement. I expected to listen to the book once, enjoy it for the most part and then probably take several months to come back to it to listen a second time if I liked it. This wasn't the case. I've listened to this book probably 6 times since I've purchased it. I really hope that he writes another one like this. I loved the story and the characters so much.
A+++

I just can't stop myself!
Revisado: 05-01-18
This book series is hands down one of my guilty pleasures. I listen to them at work all the time and spend hald the day ammusing my co-workers laughing at my desk. They've no idea why I'm laughing, but I am.
This series is clever, whitty, creative... and smart, to a point. There's a lot of low brow humor and crude jokes but to be honest I think it part of the charm.
Beacuse of this series I'm finding myself desperately wanting to play D&D again just so that I can find new and creative way to kill a horde of magically summonded horses. I haven't played an RPG in years but this is making me itch to find a group.
To be honest, I think that the best part of this series if the fact that if any of us were magically banished to another realm like this, we'd be just as lost and bumbling as they are. The humor is crude, there's a lot of cursing and rauchy jokes however as I said, the book is incredibly clever and fun.

There's not a lot I can say about this book other than it was fantastic! I listended to this, and the other one currently offered, when I was at work. When I got home after I was done listening I just HAD to watch the movies. The voice acting is excellent, the ambiant sounds are spot on to the movies and the over all plots are completely seamless and wonderful. I even had a moment at my desk where I almost, ALMOST, yelled at some of the characters.
To me, that's saying something. I might laugh or cry at a good audio book but that invested where I almost yell out at them... that's some good stuff right there.
If you're a fan of the movies, you'll be a fan of these books.
If Audible keeps up the quality of these productions I'll continue to buy them as quickly as my paychecks allow.

Probably one of my favorite books ever!
Revisado: 11-13-17
I had reservations about buying this since sometimes dramatizations don't do the book justice and I love this book so much. That being said however, while you do lose the internal monologue of the characters the presentation was so well done I didn't mind. If you like Ender's Game as a book, then this deserves a listen. It brought me to tears more than once, as did the book.
This is a must listen if you like the book. Don't miss it!

Tim and his friends find out the hard way that you shouldn't question the game master, and you shouldn't make fun of his cape. One minute, they're drinking away the dreariness of their lives, escaping into a fantasy game and laughing their asses off. The next minute, they're in a horse-drawn cart surrounded by soldiers pointing crossbows at them.

It's no NPCs but it's fun.
Revisado: 11-09-17
Overall I mostly enjoyed this book and I'm probably going to get the rest of the series but some things about the book rather bothered me.
First off, the main characters are pretty much just nerdy bullies picking on the other guy which leads them to their banishment. They spend the rest of the book not being sorry for picking on him so badly it led to this action but referring to him as the 'fat f***'. I've I'd been in that guys shoes and had the power I probably would have banished them to some mystical realm as well.
Secondly, what deeply bothered me more than that, was the fact that when someone asks someone about their race at the start it's always 'wait, I'm not white?!?'. Consider it's said multiple times it loses it's humor and just, in my opinion, turned offensive. It just made me start to think that the guys playing are all secret KKK members living in the Gulf region. It made me go from accepting and feeling bad for them to disliking them again for a long time.
All of this being said the book had some great moments. I'm not rushing to buy extra credits to buy the rest of the series (like I did with the Drew Hayes novels) but I'm willing to give the next book a shot.

Once it gets going, it REALLY gets going.
Revisado: 10-10-17
I'll admit that this wasn't my favorite book in the world. It's pretty slow going at the beginning though the story itself if enough to keep you listneing to it. It's one of those books that you might not love but you feel compelled to keep going. Karen Peakes is a good narrator. I really did enjoy her reading of the book.
I'd never read or listen to anything by Matthew Iden before and the synopsis, and the sale at the time, had been enough to get me to buy it and listen to it and it was worth the wait to get to the climax. When the sh** hits the fan, it REALLY hits the fan and holy crap, I didn't want to stop listening to it.
As per usual I figured everything out about an hour before the big reveal but that didn't ruin things for me. It was well done and in all honestly makes me both want desperately to go to Antarctica and also avoid it at all costs.
I wouldn't recommend this book to everyone but considering I got it on sale and I found myself getting pulled into it... I have no regrets listening to it.

Highly Recommend!
Revisado: 07-27-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you're a fan of Doctor Who you'll be a fan of this book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Doctor Who: The Last Voyage?
The ambiant sounds. The first time I tried to listen to this book I was trying to fall alseep. That did not happen due to the intense creepyness of the bakground noice. It's subtle and gets under the skin in that good way that a good scary moment does.
What does David Tennant bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
If you're a fan of the show than having any book read by the actual actor who portrayed The Doctor is always a plus! Tennant brings what he brought ot the show to this book. I had no complaints. I'd be happy listening to him read me the phone book.
Any additional comments?
Definately a winner of a book. It's well written, the story is solid, the reading is magnificant and the ambiant sounds in the background really make it pop in my memory as a whoppoing good listen. I honestly don't think I would have enjoyed this as much on paper as I did on audio.
