Historia
The Septuagint, the name given to the translation of the Hebrew scriptures between the third century BC and the second century AD, played a central role in the Bible's history. Many of the Hebrew scriptures were still evolving when they were translated into Greek, and these Greek translations, along with several new Greek writings, became Holy Scripture in the early Church. Yet gradually the Septuagint lost its place at the heart of Western Christianity.

Engaging and well-needed but some cautions
Revisado: 07-13-16
Tim Law has done a wonderful job in bringing an otherwise neglected issue to the forefront of biblical and theological studies. LXX has long been deemed a stepchild when it was the progenitor for the writers of the NT text. Yet, there are 2 cautions:
- the emphasis on the diversity of the OT text seems to be stretched beyond allowable evidence. True, the LXX is an authoritative text but that does not imply that the OT text was completely in a state of flux.
- the downplaying of the value of seeking after one authorial and authoritative text is also unnecessary and does not follow from the evidence presented.
Nonetheless, the book is excellent and educational.

For everyone concerned about our children, grandchildren, and future of our nation and world--
Revisado: 05-31-16
This is a must read for anyone with children/grandchildren born between 1991-present. The author has done a great job explaining and suggesting steps in leading and guiding this age-group. To me, if we don't do anything, the future is bleak.

The Challenge of Jesus poses a double-edged challenge: to grow in our understanding of the historical Jesus within the Palestinian world of the first century, and to follow Jesus more faithfully into the postmodern world of the 21st century.

Historia
Jerusalem is the universal city, the capital of two peoples, the shrine of three faiths; it is the prize of empires, the site of Judgement Day and the battlefield of today’s clash of civilizations. From King David to Barack Obama, from the birth of Judaism, Christianity and Islam to the Israel-Palestine conflict, this is the epic history of three thousand years of faith, slaughter, fanaticism and coexistence. This is how Jerusalem became Jerusalem, and the only city that exists twice - in heaven and on earth.

Well done! With some qualifications
Revisado: 01-18-16
Simon Montefiore did a great job in making the complicated history of Jerusalem understandable. There are some issues in his interpretation of Christian history that are questionable. Nonetheless, it's the best work on the matter.
